With this in mind, the Authority unveiled a draft new rules requiring professionals to obtain official professional accreditation, along with the establishment of a unified registry that includes all accredited practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Organizing the profession and improving the quality of services<br><\/strong>The General Authority for Surveying and Geomatics launched a new mandatory rules project aimed at qualifying and classifying practitioners in the field of surveying and geospatial data, in a move aimed at organizing the work in this vital field and improving the level of services and products provided therein. Under the project, a unified registry of practitioners will be established, which will begin operations after the rules are approved and officially published, and will include a precise database containing information about all approved practitioners, their professional classifications, and their areas of specialization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This step aims to enhance confidence in the sector\u2019s outputs, ensure that beneficiaries receive high-quality services, and support the continuous development of the sector\u2019s employees and the improvement of their professional competencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mandatory professional accreditation for practitioners<br><\/strong>The new rules stipulate that anyone who engages in spatial activities or works related to geospatial information must obtain official professional accreditation from the authority. After obtaining the accreditation, practitioners will be classified into specific levels that reflect their experience and professional specialization.<br>The Authority will also publish a list of approved practitioners on its website, allowing customers and beneficiaries to verify the reliability of service providers, which enhances transparency and limits irregular practices in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Strict professional obligations<br><\/strong>In contrast, the new rules impose a set of professional obligations on practitioners, including maintaining transaction and process records for at least five years, as well as the full commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and non-disclosure of customer data. The regulations also prohibit a number of practices that could harm beneficiaries or affect the credibility of data, such as manipulating or abusing geospatial information, or directly or indirectly delegating professional reliance on others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prohibitions also include the use of any spatial devices or equipment that may produce polluting emissions or cause harm to the surrounding environment, in accordance with the commitment to comply with environmental standards during the execution of field work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Governance and oversight to ensure compliance<br><\/strong>To ensure the effective implementation of these rules, the Authority has established an integrated governance system comprising a number of specialized committees, including the Professional Accreditation Committee, the Compliance and Quality Assurance Committee, as well as the Organizational and Professional Conduct Committee and the Appeals Committee.<br>The Compliance and Quality Assurance Committee undertakes field oversight and inspection tasks to verify the compliance of practitioners with the approved controls, as well as to monitor the mechanisms for protecting personal data.
