The History of the Saudi Flag<\/strong>
On March 11, 1937, corresponding to the 27th of Dhu al-Hijjah, 1355 AH, the Founding King, Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman \u2014may Allah have mercy on him\u2014the national flag in the form we see today, flying majestically and solemnly in the skies of the Kingdom. In light of this historical significance, a royal decree was issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud \u2014may God preserve him\u2014declaring March 11 as Flag Day, on which we commemorate each year our pride in this symbol of our identity and our commitment to the enduring values it embodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This flag has undergone several historical stages of development, beginning as a square green flag with a white stripe adjacent to the flagpole, featuring the creed \u201cThere is no god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God\u201d in the center, serving as the emblem of the state\u2019s mission.
The design then evolved in a later phase while retaining the same basic elements; two vertical, crossed swords were added above the creed as a symbol of resilience and strength. As construction continued, the flag underwent another change with the addition of a single horizontal sword above the phrase of testimony, while retaining the white space adjacent to the flagpole, until it reached its final, definitive form: a rectangular flag whose width is two-thirds of its length, green in color from the flagpole to the tip, with the two testimonies centered on it and, below them, a drawn sword parallel to them, its hilt pointing to theright, symbolizing the strength and justice that protect the declaration of monotheism in a flag unique in its nature, which ensures it is never lowered, regardless of the circumstances.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
