\n\u00abDeputy Minister of Commerce: Commercial Fraud Is a Form of Deception That Requires Oversight\u00bb
\nFahad Al-Hathili, Assistant Undersecretary for Oversight at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, defined commercial fraud as practices that rely on misinformation and deception in the marketing of goods and products, The opening of markets, the diversity of goods, and variations in their quality have led to the spread of fraud in all its forms and manifestations, affecting all goods and services, which necessitates legislation to protect communities from it.
\nIn a working paper titled \u201cCommercial Fraud and Mechanisms to Combat It,\u201d he reviewed the efforts made by the Ministry to combat commercial fraud, which focus on conducting inspection tours to detect violations of the regulations and receiving complaints regarding fraud and deception, in addition to field teams conducting monitoring visits to factories to verify the safety of their products and their compliance with specifications, taking samples of suspicious goods for testing and analysis, seizing and confiscating adulterated products, monitoring advertisements to verify their accuracy, and referring regulatory violations to investigators and prosecutors for referral to the judicial authorities, He emphasized that commercial fraud involves deception in the description, display, or marketing of a product using false or misleading information that contradicts its true nature, in addition to trademark counterfeiting, noting that fraud causes material, economic, and health-related harm.
\nThe Deputy Minister of Commerce explained that it is possible to systematically identify counterfeit goods or products based on any change or modification made to the product itself, its nature, its components, or its specifications, such as its origin, country of origin, or quantity\u2014whether in terms of weight, volume, size, number, or energy. .<\/p>\n

Work is currently underway to develop plans for similar facilities at every seaport and at all other border crossings.
\nAl-Issa emphasized that, as part of efforts to streamline the clearance process for incoming containers, Customs is expanding the deployment of radiation screening systems to cover all Saudi customs ports. with approximately 88 fixed and mobile systems for containers and trucks, 71 detectors for radioactive and nuclear materials, 793 inspection cameras, and the option to pay fees online, via phone banking, or at an ATM, and the direct clearance system.<\/p>\n
