The total length of this network exceeds 65,000 kilometers, comprising highways, dual-lane roads, and single-lane roads, all constructed in accordance with the latest technical and design specifications, In addition, there are more than 145,000 kilometers of agricultural roads that have facilitated movement between population centers and communities for marketing products and meeting basic needs, along with more than 24,000 kilometers of various types of roads currently under construction in different regions.<\/p>\n<p><b>Transportation and Its Vital Role<\/b><br \/>\n The Kingdom\u2019s transportation sector plays a vital role in supporting the national economy and establishing the infrastructure necessary for sustainable development in all areas, as massive investments over the past four decades have led to the development of the transportation sector\u2019s infrastructure and the creation of a modern network of air, land, and sea transportation systems, which is characterized by effectiveness and efficiency and connects the Kingdom\u2019s vast and diverse regions. The size of the Ministry of Transportation\u2019s budget for the years 1434 AH\/1435 AH reflects the interest and care of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques\u2014may God preserve him\u2014as an amount of (11,050,000,000) riyals has been allocated for the implementation of 223 new projects involving main, secondary, and branch roads with a total length of (3,708) kilometers, in addition to the study and design of 1,523 kilometers of roads in various regions, which have been put out to public tender.<\/p>\n<p><b>King Abdullah Project<\/b><br \/>\nIn the field of land and maritime transportation, the Ministry has issued more than 142,000 licenses to carry out various activities, in addition to the issuance of numerous decisions supporting the development of transportation within the Kingdom. Among the most significant of these is the Cabinet\u2019s decision to implement a public transportation network in the city of Riyadh over a four-year period, consisting of trains, rapid buses, and regular buses. The King Abdullah Public Transportation Project in Riyadh consists of an integrated transportation system that includes 6 electric train lines, 4 express bus routes, and numerous feeder buses connecting neighborhoods to public transportation stations. The \u201cMetro\u201d electric train network includes 6 lines with a total length of 176 kilometers and 85 stations, as well as a multi-level bus network comprising 24 routes with a total length of 1,083 kilometers and 776 stations. The Riyadh Metro project consists of Line 1 (\u201cAl-Olaya\u2013Al-Bat\u2019ha Corridor\u201d), Line 2 (\u201cKing Abdullah Road Corridor,\u201d 25.3 kilometers long), Line 3 (\u201cMedina Road Corridor \u2013 Prince Saad bin Abdulrahman I Road, 40.7 kilometers long,\u201d Line 4: \u201cKing Khalid International Airport Road, 29.6 kilometers long,\u201d Line 5 \u201cKing Abdulaziz Road, 12.9 kilometers long,\u201d and Line 6: \u201cAbdulrahman bin Awf Road\u2013Sheikh Hassan bin Hussein bin Ali Road, 30 kilometers long.\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><b>Railroads<\/b><br \/>\nThe Kingdom boasts state-of-the-art roads and trains that meet the highest international standards. The railway sector experienced a golden age during the reign of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God preserve him, marked by the implementation of several expansion projects with a total length of 4,350 kilometers, namely \u201cthe North-South Railway Project (a project of the Saudi Railway Company (SAR)), which has a total length of 2,750 kilometers and is being implemented in two phases: the first \u2013 the railway line connecting the mineral production regions (phosphate and bauxite) in the north of the Kingdom to the manufacturing and export zone at Ras Al-Khair Port on the Arabian Gulf; and the second phase, which is currently under construction, which starts at the Jordanian border and passes through the regions of Al-Jawf, Ha\u2019il, and Al-Qassim to Riyadh,\u201d and the Al-Haramain High-Speed Passenger Train Project, which is 450 kilometers and connects Makkah, Madinah, and Jeddah. All phases of the project are being implemented according to the established schedule, which focuses on the project\u2019s infrastructure. The Makkah station is located in the Al-Rasifa area, bordered to the north by the Makkah \u2013 Jeddah Expressway to the north and the Third Ring Road to the west. It serves as the project\u2019s starting point and covers an area of 484,952 square meters. The Jeddah station is located in the Al-Suleimaniyah area, bordered to the east by the Makkah\u2013Jeddah Expressway (Al-Haramain Highway) and to the south by King Abdullah Road, with an area of 454,512 square meters, There are approximately 104 bridges in the Makkah region, with a total length of 31,500 meters. The route begins in Makkah on a 1,600-meter-long suspension bridge, continues to intersect with the Makkah\u2013Jeddah Expressway, runs along a 170-meter-long bridge, and continues to the city of Bahra, consisting of several bridges.
