In the 1960s, the neighborhood was not the upscale destination we know today; its old industrial buildings were falling into disuse, and artists found there ample space where they could work and live at a low cost. <br>At that time, rents for some of those spaces ranged from $50 to $125 per month.<br>Then the place began to change.<br>First came the artists, then the galleries, then the visitors, and then the cafes and shops; with each new wave, the neighborhood\u2019s appeal and economic value rose. By 1970, advertised rents ranged from $300 to $400; in 1971, some spaces reached $500\u2013$800, and by the mid-1970s, some exceeded $1,000 per month.<br>In just a few years, success itself has become a factor in determining who can remain in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/amlak.net.sa\/en\/107272\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"107272\">Place<\/a><\/strong>. The irony is that the artists did not discover an existing real estate value; rather, they helped create it. They gave abandoned buildings a new purpose and forged an identity for the neighborhood that attracted people and capital.<br>And when this appeal was reflected in prices, it gradually began to exclude some of those who had created it.<br>And here lies a problem that isn't readily apparent in property valuation tables: the value of the property may rise, while the value of the location may fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A neighborhood isn\u2019t just buildings, locations, and prices; it\u2019s a network of people, activities, and experiences that give it a reason to visit and return.
