Contributes Saudi Road Code <\/a><\/strong>In implementing the General Authority for Roads\u2019 strategy aimed at building a unified legislative and regulatory system for the road sector in the Kingdom by unifying technical and operational standards across the Kingdom, enabling road owners to systematically and sustainably improve the quality of their work through comprehensive standards that cover the entire life cycle of the road, from design and construction to continuous operation and maintenance, within a unified regulatory framework that achieves the highest levels of efficiency and safety.

She explained Public Authority for Roads<\/a><\/strong> The road code enhances the readiness of the infrastructure for self-driving vehicles through technical requirements that contribute to keeping pace with future transport patterns and ensuring the efficient operation of smart systems under various conditions. It states that these requirements include installing communication devices on both sides of the road to provide self-driving vehicles with immediate information about their status, which enhances their ability to respond to surrounding variables and supports the safety of mobility.

The authority reported that the requirements also include designing roadway layers in accordance with specifications that take into account the evolution of autonomous vehicle traffic on the same route, ensuring the sustainability of roads and their ability to accommodate modern technologies, along with the implementation of clear and machine-readable traffic lines and markings; to ensure the efficient operation of autonomous driving systems in various weather conditions.

The Authority pointed out that the road code takes into account vehicle positions to integrate with autonomous systems, through features that include intelligent location sensing and automatic parking, which supports the development of a smarter road system and prepares for future transformations in the transportation sector, and improves safety and operational efficiency on the Kingdom\u2019s roads.

She pointed out that the code represents a comprehensive technical reference for all parties responsible for the road sector in the Kingdom, including the ministries, urban development bodies, regional secretariats, city municipalities, and governorates, enabling them to access the information, guidelines, technical drawings, procedures, and checklists necessary for planning, designing, implementing, operating, and maintaining roads of all types, while taking into account environmental requirements and safety requirements, in order to achieve the minimum acceptable standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, economy, and sustainability.

The Authority affirmed its commitment to providing a unified and transparent legislative and regulatory system that ensures the integration of policies and the achievement of regulatory compliance, through the application of flexible and rigorous oversight mechanisms that ensure compliance with regulations and legislations, based on its assigned tasks of overseeing and regulating the road sector, through the development of the necessary policies and legislations, including the launch of the Saudi Road Code, noting that it continues to expand the application of modern technical standards with the aim of improving the experience of road users and ensuring the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and sustainability, in order to achieve the objectives of the Road Sector Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
