His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Alhakil, affirmed that the market for facility management in the Kingdom exceeds $50 billion, noting that the market size reflects the opportunities available to maximize the value of assets, improve the efficiency of cities, and develop a national sector capable of competing globally.

This was during his speech at the opening of the works. The 3rd International Conference and Exhibition on Facility Management 2026<\/a><\/strong> Yesterday, which is held under the slogan \u201cSmart Facilities.. Smart Cities\u201d, with the participation of a select group of experts, specialists, government and private entities, and those interested in the management sector of facilities.

He explained that the convening of the conference comes at a time when Saudi cities are expanding and their assets and services are growing, in conjunction with major national and global events, foremost among which are the Riyadh 2030 Expo and the 2034 World Cup, which reinforces the need to develop and improve the management and efficiency of asset and facility operations.

Improving services through facility management
<\/strong>
His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing pointed out that Facility management<\/a><\/strong> It has become an influential factor in cities\u2019 ability to maintain their resources, improve their services, and make decisions in a timely manner, emphasizing the importance of transitioning from operating the facility to managing the value of the asset throughout its life cycle, from addressing breakdowns after they occur to predicting needs before they occur.

He explained that data, artificial intelligence, and digital twins provide practical tools to improve asset management by reading their performance, predicting their needs, and supporting decision-making, which contributes to providing more reliable services, improving asset efficiency, and enhancing the efficiency of resource utilization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Excellency pointed out that the ministry focuses in this field on two main priorities; the first is asset management with data and results, by linking asset management to the design, planning, operation, maintenance, and improvement stages; developing contracts that link the service provider to the results, and performance indicators that measure actual value. The second priority is building a competitive Saudi market that creates solutions and skills, allowing national companies to grow, enhancing opportunities for innovation and investment in the private sector, and supporting the qualification of Saudi competencies in engineering, technology, asset management, and data analysis.

Developing the facility management sector<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Excellency emphasized that the role of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing is to develop a clear and stimulating regulatory environment, and to strengthen partnerships that contribute to improving the level of practice and expanding its impact. He pointed out that developing the sector of facility management is a shared responsibility between government agencies, the private sector, universities, knowledge centers, and experts. He said that the Third International Conference and Exhibition on Facility Management 2026 aims to move from exchanging ideas to partnerships, projects, and scalable solutions, which will enhance the development of the sector and raise its readiness for the next stage.

His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing concluded his speech by emphasizing that smart cities are built based on their ability to transform data into decision-making, decision into service, and service into value that people feel. He explained that the future of facility management in the Kingdom is based on technology as a tool, data as a foundation, investment as an engine, efficiency as a standard, and the human being as the ultimate goal. The conference, organized by the Saudi Facility Management Association, witnessed the participation of more than 200 government and private entities in the 2026 edition, along with international participation from experts, specialists, and university professors, who discuss the future of the facility management sector and review the most prominent experiences, practices, solutions, and modern technologies in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
