Tightened Heritage Commission<\/a><\/strong> She stressed the need to adhere to the regulations governing the handling of antiquities and urban heritage sites, warning against eight violations identified by the Antiquities Law.Urban heritage<\/a><\/strong>Some of these violations carry a fine of up to 50,000 riyals, as part of the effort to protect archaeological artifacts and sites from irregular actions and to preserve their historical and architectural value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The violations include the owner of antiquities failing to provide the ministry with a statement of the archaeological artifacts in his possession, in addition to possessing an original unregistered artifact, or owning any artifact without a document proving the legitimacy of his ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prohibited behaviors at heritage sites<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The list of violations also includes selling, renting, or transferring ownership of a fixed monument or classified urban heritage site without obtaining the approval of the Ministry, as well as obstructing the work of the teams affiliated with the Ministry of Culture while carrying out their tasks in archaeological and heritage sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authority also warned against engaging in the commercial activity of restoring movable antiquities without obtaining the necessary license, or violating the conditions of the license granted to practice the activity, including carrying out restoration and maintenance work and dealing with antiquities outside the regulatory frameworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulations also included preventing maintenance, subdivision, or partitioning work in buildings, neighborhoods, and villages classified as urban heritage sites without obtaining the required approval, in order to preserve the historical and architectural value of these sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strict controls on the restoration of artifacts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With regard to museums, the authority prohibited the restoration of registered artifacts without the approval of the Ministry of Culture, stressing the need to adhere to the approved procedures and requirements before carrying out any maintenance or restoration work on archaeological holdings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The violations and penalties referred to are based on Article 77 of the Antiquities and Urban Heritage Law, which regulates dealings with antiquities and heritage sites and prohibits practices that may affect their safety, legitimacy, or historical identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owners and establishments' compliance with regulations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Heritage Authority stressed the importance of owners of antiquities, museums, facilities and individuals adhering to the regulations and requirements, and obtaining the necessary licenses and approvals before carrying out any work or actions related to antiquities and classified sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She explained that adhering to these regulations contributes to preserving and protecting the cultural heritage, and ensuring its survival for future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
