Announced Saudi Energy Company<\/a><\/strong>, amendment Electricity service tariff <\/a><\/strong>For different consumption categories, the new prices will be applied starting from January 1, 2027, in accordance with the procedures for governing the adjustment of energy and water product prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company explained that the revised tariff consists of two parts: the first is a fixed tariff calculated monthly based on the approved circuit breaker capacity of the meter, and the second is a consumption tariff determined according to the amount of electricity used monthly in kilowatt-hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the new tariff guide, the fixed tariff replaces the meter reading, maintenance, and billing fees in all sectors, so that the bill consists of the consumption value plus the fixed tariff, noting that the announced prices do not include value-added tax, which is added when the bill is issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New tariff for the residential sector<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Saudi Energy Company has set the residential consumption tariff at 21 halalas per kilowatt-hour for consumption ranging between 1 and 6,000 kilowatt-hours per month, and 33 halalas per kilowatt-hour for consumption exceeding 6,000 kilowatt-hours, while continuing to operate within the current range of tiers without change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the fixed tariff for the residential sector, it amounts to 70 riyals per month for circuit breakers with a capacity between 20 and less than 100 amps, 80 riyals for circuit breakers from 100 to less than 200 amps, 90 riyals for circuit breakers from 200 to less than 300 amps, while it reaches 100 riyals per month for circuit breakers with a capacity of 300 amps or more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Private commercial, health and educational facilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The amendment included transferring private healthcare facilities, institutions, institutes, and private schools to the commercial consumption category, subjecting them to the tariff specified for this sector. The commercial consumption tariff is 25 halalas per kilowatt-hour for consumption up to 6,000 kilowatt-hours per month, and increases to 35 halalas per kilowatt-hour for consumption exceeding that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fixed tariff is the same for the commercial, industrial and governmental sectors, as well as private health and educational facilities, as it amounts to 350 riyals per month for circuit breakers with a capacity between 20 and less than 100 amps, 500 riyals for circuit breakers from 100 to less than 200 amps, 700 riyals for circuit breakers from 200 to less than 300 amps, and 900 riyals for circuit breakers with a capacity of 300 amps or more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Industrial and governmental sector tariffs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The company set the consumption tariff for the industrial sector connected to the electricity transmission or distribution network at 23 halalas per kilowatt-hour for the entire consumption, without dividing it into tiers. As for the government sector, its consumption tariff is 35 halalas per kilowatt-hour, based on a single tier that covers the total consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fixed tariff for these sectors is subject to amounts determined according to the capacity of the circuit breaker, which ranges between 350 riyals and 900 riyals per month, according to the approved capacity categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agricultural tariffs and charitable organizations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The electricity tariff for the agricultural sector is 19 halalas per kilowatt-hour for consumption up to 6,000 kilowatt-hours per month, and 23 halalas per kilowatt-hour for consumption exceeding that. For charitable organizations, the tariff is set at 17 halalas per kilowatt-hour up to 6,000 kilowatt-hours per month, and 21 halalas per kilowatt-hour for consumption exceeding that amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fixed tariff for the agricultural sector and charitable associations is 140 riyals per month for circuit breakers with a capacity between 20 and less than 100 amps, 160 riyals for circuit breakers from 100 to less than 200 amps, 180 riyals for circuit breakers from 200 to less than 300 amps, and 200 riyals for circuit breakers with a capacity of 300 amps or more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Method of calculating the fixed tariff<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Saudi Energy Company explained that the calculation of the fixed tariff is linked to the number of days in the consumption period, whether the billing period is more than 30 days or less, according to the following equation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It clarified that consumption recorded before January 1, 2027, will be calculated according to the previous tariff, while the new rate will apply to consumption from that date onward. Therefore, the bill issued when the adjustment takes effect may include both the old and new tariffs if the consumption period extends between the two dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Example of an electricity bill after adjustment<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The company clarified that the electricity bill for a residential subscriber whose consumption is 1000 kilowatt-hours over 30 days, and whose meter has a circuit breaker capacity of less than 100 amps, is 280 riyals before VAT. This bill is comprised of 210 riyals for electricity consumption, based on a rate of 21 halalas per kilowatt-hour, plus a fixed monthly charge of 70 riyals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to determine the circuit breaker capacity<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The company indicated that it is possible to find out the approved circuit breaker capacity for the meter through the subscriber's account in the "Saudi Energy" application, or by looking at the monthly bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She explained that the circuit breaker capacity determines the amount of electrical loads that can be operated at the same time, stressing that increasing the circuit breaker capacity does not necessarily mean a higher amount of consumption, and that reducing it does not necessarily lead to a reduction in electrical consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company invited individual and business customers to review the details of the new tariff on its website and to contact them through its official channels if they have any inquiries regarding the application of the revised prices or invoices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residential tariff increase of 3 halalas per kilowatt-hour<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A comparison of the new residential tariff with the rates applied since January 2018 shows an increase of 3 halalas per kilowatt-hour in both consumption brackets. The previous tariff was 18 halalas per kilowatt-hour for consumption up to 6,000 kilowatt-hours per month, and 30 halalas per kilowatt-hour for consumption exceeding that amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the new amendment, the tariff has increased to 21 halalas for the first tier and 33 halalas for the second tier, while the monthly consumption limits remain unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
