This brings the total loans and financial contributions provided by the Fund since its establishment through the end of last year to 47 billion riyals, allocated tofund 578 development projects and programs, which have been channeled into various projects throughout the Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Projects and Programs<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Fund\u2019s recently released Annual Report for 1436\/1437 AH \u2013 2015 AD highlighted a range of projects and programs that the Fund helped finance, It also highlighted the Fund\u2019s activities in the areas of financing and guaranteeing national exports through its Export Program. This reflects the continued support provided by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to various peoples and nations around the world to achieve development goals and advance the non-oil national economy.In his introduction to the report, Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf affirmed that the Fund continued its activities and contributions to 82 countries worldwide, particularly in Africa and Asia, noting that the projects and programs financed in 2015 \u2014the year covered by the report\u2014totaled 19 development projects and programs across both Africa and Asia, all of which spanned the social infrastructure, transportation, telecommunications, energy, agriculture, and other sectors, with total loan disbursements exceeding 2,454 million riyals. This brings the total amount provided by the Fund from its inception through 2015 to more than 47 billion riyals, allocated to finance 578 development projects and programs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Exports Program<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">He explained that the report revealed that, during 2015, the export program approved 16 export financing transactions for domestic goods totaling more than 8.1 billion riyals, It also approved the issuance and renewal of 15 export guarantee documents for domestic goods with a total value of 2.6 billion riyals, bringing the total number of financing and guarantee transactions approved by the program since its launch in 2001 through 2015 to 287, with a total value of more than 48.5 billion riyals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Support for Development<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The report stated that, as part of the Saudi Fund for Development\u2019s ongoing role in supporting development in a number of beneficiary countries across the developing world, the Fund signed 19 loan agreements during the fiscal year 1436 \/ 1437 AH (2015 CE) with 15 developing countries, with a total value of 2,454.12 million riyals, to help finance 19 development projects and programs, 9 of which were on the African continent, with a total value of 1,181.25 million riyals, and 10 projects on the Asian continent, with a total value of 1,272.87 million riyals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Regarding the sectoral distribution of loans signed by the Fund, the report stated that in 2015, it contributed to the financing of 19 development projects and programs for a total amount of 2,454.12 million riyals,noting that the energy sector received the largest share of the total amount, with 3 projects funded at a total value of 758.75 million riyals, representing 30.92%, followed by the transportation and communications sector, which included 7 projects totaling 647.25 million riyals, representing 26.37%\u2014the largest sector in terms of the number of funded projects, followed by other sectors, which included three projects totaling 611.25 million riyals, representing 24.91%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Social Projects<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The social infrastructure sector also included projects\u2014two in the health sector, one in the education sector, and two in the housing and urban development sector\u2014totaling 343.12 million riyals, representing 13.98%; and the agriculture sector included one project with a total value of 93.75 million riyals, representing 3.82% of the fund\u2019s total contributions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In terms of co-financing for signed loans, the Fund financed 10 development projects and programs in 10 developing countries during the past year (2015), in partnership with other financiers, with the Fund\u2019s total contribution to their financing amounting to 1,482.50 million riyals.Regarding the geographic distribution of the Fund\u2019s total projects, the annual report explained the approach adopted by the Fund in its development assistance, which focused on developing countries with weak growth and extreme poverty, where the population lives in extremely dire economic conditions, in addition to high rates of population growth and unemployment and low income levels.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">Minutes<\/span><\/span>The Saudi Fund for Development has achieved numerous successes in financing its overseas programs; during 2015, it funded approximately 19 development projects and programs, including 9 programs and projects in Africa and 10 others in Asia, with total funding amounting to 2,454 million riyals.
