In this week’s issue of Amlak, dear reader, we’ll cover home design and finishing to make it safer for our little angels.
There are several ways to make a home safer and more practical for children, starting with the walls and floors, moving on to furniture and household appliances, and ending with the kitchen, laundry room, and bathrooms.

Walls and Floors
When painting walls, dear reader, it’s best to choose a type of paint that’s washable, such as oil-based paints and washable matte paints… Although they are more expensive than other paints, they last longer and are the most practical for cleaning. It’s also best to avoid wallpaper and limit its use in the home, since most types are not wipeable and are more prone to rapid damage. You should also completely avoid covering walls with rough stone.
As for flooring, it is best to use textured ceramic tiles and avoid smooth, glossy surfaces such as marble, granite, and stone to reduce the risk of children slipping repeatedly. Wooden and vinyl flooring are also softer than other types of flooring. In children’s bedrooms, it is best to use carpet or vinyl to cover the floors to make the room safer. It is also recommended to line children’s playrooms with cork or felt to provide them with additional protection and safety while playing and to prevent injuries if they fall. It is essential to ensure that flooring is installed properly and that carpets, felt, and wood are securely affixed. Care must also be taken to properly seal ceramic, tile, stone, and marble surfaces to prevent breakage or chipping that could cause harm to children or adults.
Furniture and Appliances
Be sure to purchase furniture that is practical and safe to use, suitable for a home with children. For example, it’s best to choose furniture with minimal carvings and folds so it’s easy to clean, Furniture fabrics should also be wipeable, washable, and shake-outable, and resistant to staining—such as linen, wool, and canvas—and you should avoid chiffon, satin, or velvet due to their delicacy and difficulty in cleaning. You should also choose tables with rounded edges or attach safety guards—available at children’s stores—to any sharp corners. Avoid breakable glass and ceramic ornaments and furniture; instead, use lightweight metal or reinforced plastic. Hang ornaments, paintings, and mirrors securely at a height of at least one and a half meters to keep them out of children’s reach. In addition, secure rugs and place non-slip pads under all furniture in the home to prevent them from sliding easily, and securely fasten shelves and cabinets to the walls with mounting screws to prevent them from falling on children.
As for electrical appliances, care must also be taken to mount them securely and ensure they are stable so they do not fall on children. In addition, electrical cords should be bundled and tucked away inside safety covers or behind furniture so that children cannot reach them. Electrical outlets should also be locked or covered with special plastic covers sold at baby supply stores.
The Kitchen and Bathrooms
Chemicals and sharp objects—such as cleaning supplies, knives, scissors, and medications—must be stored in locked, elevated cabinets; it is essential to ensure that glass and ceramic items are kept in the upper kitchen cabinets. As for electric stoves and ovens, there are models that automatically shut off in the event of a gas leak or that have safety plugs to prevent accidental ignition. Gas cylinders should also be stored in a locked cabinet to prevent children from playing with them and causing a gas leak.
On the other hand, it is preferable to design bathrooms to be child-friendly by choosing non-slip flooring and selecting bathroom fixtures that make it easy to install child safety locks. It is best not to store personal care items or cleaning supplies in the lower drawers but to place them in the upper ones to prevent children from ingesting them. Proper ventilation is essential in bathrooms and kitchens, and the bathroom floor should be sloped toward the drain to facilitate drying. You should also choose faucets that are more difficult to turn on to prevent children from getting burned by hot water. As for the bathtub, installing a textured mat or special anti-slip stickers is essential to prevent slipping. You should also purchase and install child safety locks on kitchen cabinets, lower bathroom cabinets, and the refrigerator to prevent children from opening them and to ensure their safety.
Doors and Windows
When selecting and designing windows, choose models that are difficult to open and install safety bars on upper-floor windows to ensure children’s safety. Lightweight wooden doors are best for homes with children, and care must be taken not to install door closers that automatically close the door as soon as it is opened, as these pose a danger to children.Furniture should also be kept away from windows and elevated areas, such as near stair railings, and rugs should be removed or secured around doors to prevent children from falling. Safety devices can be purchased from stores that sell children’s supplies and installed on windows and doors for added protection.
Dear reader, here are some basic things you should keep in mind when designing and furnishing your home to make it safer and more suitable for young children. Some child-friendly items or measures may be more expensive than others, but you should consider them an investment in protecting your children from harm.

Reading time: 3 Minutes- Think about the future of your family and the suitability of everything you own for the presence of children - Fixing furniture, carpets and accessories is a must - Keeping chemicals and medicines in tight upper cabinets to prevent child poisoning Many of us rush at the beginning of home ownership or at the beginning of marriage to buy the most beautiful, expensive and suitable for us, forgetting that there are small children we have or are coming ... Read more

"_seopress_social_twitter_img_attachment_id":0
[145

post-1242","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-major-projects
"1536x1536":"","2048x2048":"
["املاك العقارية
مشاريع كبرى
["GET
