In an important and bold step to save national products, the National Committee of Steel Factories in the Council of Saudi Chambers plans to start a lawsuit against Chinese companies for flooding the market with products that are sold at prices that do not reach the cost price of the local product.<\/p>\n
Engineer Sha'il Al-Ayed, head of the committee, confirmed that the committee's demands to file the lawsuit were referred to the competent authorities at the Ministry of Finance to study them and take special decisions regarding the dumping case that Saudi manufacturers are demanding to file.<\/p>\n
Al-Ayed attributed this trend to the fact that Chinese steel has flooded the market, as the price of a ton of it reached $375, while Saudi steel cannot be sold at these prices, which are lower than the cost price for local factories, and thus is a serious competitor to the Saudi product.<\/p>\n
