A fusion of heritage and civilization with the modernity of the Kingdom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2013  The Traditional Folk Village attracts visitors and preserves the Kingdom\u2019s heritage<br \/>\n\u2013 Participation by a select group of scholars and intellectuals from within and outside the Kingdom<\/p>\n<p>  On Wednesday, 22\/5\/1434 AH, corresponding to 3\/4\/2013 AD, the National Festival of Heritage and Culture (Al-Janadriyah) in its 28th edition, organized annually by the National Guard under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, . The festival is a cultural and heritage event that reflects the Kingdom\u2019s heritage and civilization and serves to bridge the generations, linking the Kingdom\u2019s past with the modernity of the present. Every year, a select group of scholars and intellectuals from within and outside the Kingdom participate in the festival, giving this event a regional and global dimension.<br \/>\n   On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud \u2014may God protect him\u2014His Royal Highness Prince Mutaib bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State, Member of the Council of Ministers, Commander of the National Guard, and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the National Festival of Heritage and Culture, received the festival\u2019s guests at the Palace of Culture in the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh, where His Royal Highness welcomed the Kingdom\u2019s guests, conveying to them the greetings and warm welcome of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, may God protect him.<\/p>\n<p> A Humanistic Civilization<br \/>\n The National Festival of Heritage and Culture, \u201cAl-Janadriyah\u201d\u2014now in its 28th edition\u2014has seen the participation of a large number of thinkers and intellectuals from both inside and outside the Kingdom, demonstrating that it has become a cultural and humanitarian platform that embodies progressive and forward-thinking visions, characterized by a belief in dialogue as an indispensable cultural value for mutual understanding and convergence with others. The topics and themes it raises for discussion during the festival\u2019s sessions reflect this, as they are comprehensive and meet the expectations of many Arab and Muslim intellectuals and thinkers, as well as those from numerous countries around the world.<br \/>\n   The Roots of History<br \/>\nAl-Janadria is distinguished by a number of lofty and noble values, the full significance of which was recognized by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud \u2014may God preserve him\u2014 and worked to promote. It represents a genuine message that reflects the Kingdom, based on objectives that emphasize religious and social values rooted deep in history to portray the Islamic heroism encouraged by the true Islamic faith, and deepens the synergy between folk heritage in all its aspects and the cultural achievements of our beloved country, while also working to remove the artificial barriers between literary and artistic creativity and folk heritage, and encouraging the rediscovery of folk heritage.<br \/>\nFolklore<br \/>\nAl-Janadriyah has a number of objectives, the most prominent of which is to refine the values of the folk heritage in order to bring its symbols to the forefront of the creative imagination; so that creators have access to options from their artistic heritage in the realms of art, literature, and culture, in addition to encouraging the study of heritage to benefit from its positive aspects, and working to introduce folk heritage through role-playing and sensory experiences so that the picture becomes clearer, and to provide a vivid picture of the past in all its cultural, artistic, and heritage dimensions.<br \/>\nSaudi Al-'Arda<br \/>\n The Saudi Ardah is considered one of the events associated with the National Festival of Heritage and Culture\u2014indeed, one of the festival\u2019s most important activities\u2014which expresses the unity of the nation and the solidarity of the people with their leadership, embodying the nation\u2019s pride, cohesion, and strength.  It also embodies a facet of the inherited values that the current generation continues to uphold,  which is a testament to the character of the Saudi people, who remain proud of the legacy of their fathers and forefathers.<br \/>\nRegional and Global Interest<br \/>\n The Janadriyah Festival attracts significant interest and attention not only at the local level, but at all levels\u2014Arab, Islamic, and global\u2014as Saudi citizens, indeed all members of Saudi families, are eager to participate in the festival\u2019s events, A number of residents are also keen to experience the Janadriyah events, in addition to delegations that come specifically from neighboring countries and other Arab nations, as well as a number of Arab, Islamic, and international figures who participate in this cultural and heritage event. .<br \/>\nA brief look at the historical background of the festival\u2014which held its inaugural events on the first day of Rajab in 1405 AH and attracted more than half a million visitors at the time\u2014 it becomes clear that there is a strong determination and commitment to highlighting Saudi heritage, reminding future generations of it, and broadening interest in Saudi thought and culture.<br \/>\nHigh turnout<br \/>\n  Every year, Janadriyah attracts participation from various government agencies, as well as a number of private entities\u2014both local and from the Gulf and Arab regions\u2014The number of government agencies participating in the festival exceeded dozens, and the number of handicrafts on display in the Janadriyah Village exceeded 237, in addition to performances featuring rose water, the oud, and well-known traditional foods.<br \/>\nTo strengthen the vital cultural role of Al-Janadria locally, in the Gulf, regionally, and globally, there has been a broader focus on attracting countries with successful experiences in global development, in addition to their civilizational and cultural roles, to showcase them to visitors so they can gain a realistic understanding of those countries\u201d experiences and diverse heritage in a special pavilion set up by Janadriyah each year. This year\u2019s guest of honor was \u201dChina,\u201d with its civilization that has dazzled the world. .<br \/>\nThe Heritage Village<br \/>\nWhat most distinguishes Janadriyah is the Heritage Village, which serves as the heart of the festival, presenting examples that evoke the rich heritage of the past\u2014the traditional way of life of Saudi society, with its deep historical roots.
