The Director General of the Chamber of Commerce in Qatar, Saleh Al Sharqi, revealed 618 Saudi companies operating in Qatar, estimating the number of Saudi companies operating in Qatar at 315 companies, with a Saudi capital of 100%, while the number of Saudi companies with the Qatari partner amounted to 303 companies with a total capital of 1.23 billion Qatari riyals.<\/p>\n
During the press conference organized by the Council of Saudi Chambers and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry yesterday at the Council's headquarters, Saleh Al Sharqi stressed that they are seeking to solve all the obstacles facing Saudi investors in the State of Qatar, explaining that there are some obstacles facing Saudi investors in the State of Qatar, namely the requirement to reside in the State of Qatar for at least six months continuously or intermittently for the Saudi investor to obtain a real estate population card, and if not obtained, the Saudi investor cannot engage in any commercial activity in Qatar, and the lack of availability of industrial lands as plots and spaces, promising to solve these obstacles quickly within.<\/p>\n
The conference addressed the agenda of the Made in Qatar 2016 exhibition and its promotion in the Kingdom to enhance the participation of Saudi businessmen in it, noting that industry is the backbone of any developed economy and a pillar of economic development, as industrial development ensures increased added value and helps meet the local market's need for goods and services and secure job opportunities.<\/p>\n
Al-Sharqi pointed out that Qatar Chamber took it upon itself to organize this exhibition as a platform to bring together the 230 Qatari factories, companies and SMEs in one exhibition and under one roof, with the aim of promoting the Qatari product internally and externally, as well as strengthening the public and private sector partnership, pointing out that the exhibition is the result of fruitful and positive cooperation between the Kingdom and Qatar.<\/p>\n
Al-Sharqi explained that the Kingdom is one of Qatar's most important trading partners at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council, where the volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached 6.9 billion riyals in 2015, including 1.8 billion Qatari riyals of Qatari exports to the Kingdom and 5.1 billion Qatari riyals of Saudi imports to Qatar.<\/p>\n
He expected that the exhibition, which will be accompanied by an investment forum, will result in the establishment of partnerships, deals and joint projects between businessmen in the two countries, noting that the Kingdom is the first stop for this exhibition, which will move to several Arab and foreign countries to end in China.<\/p>\n
