The National Center for Statistics in the Sultanate of Oman revealed that the country welcomed more than one million tourists last year, compared to 815,000 in 2015, Forecasts indicate that the number of tourists and visitors to the country will continue to rise, especially since Oman welcomes the holiday seasons by launching numerous recreational and exploratory tourism programs and activities amid the picturesque winter scenery that sets the Sultanate apart from others. Among these activities are the Oman Sailing Project along the beaches of Al Khairan, Al Mouj Marina in Muscat, Al Masna\u2019a on the Al Batinah coast, and Bakha in the Wilayat of Sur, in addition to water sports, skateboarding demonstrations, kite flying, and other activities.<\/p>\n
On the same topic, Salim bin Adi al-Ma'mari, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Omani Ministry of Tourism, emphasized that the Sultanate of Oman boasts natural attractions and unique landmarks that have made it the most distinctive winter tourist destination during this period, especially among Gulf residents, who continue to flock there to enjoy the dazzling winter atmosphere alongside the exciting activities and programs on offer.<\/p>\n
He said that every year during the holiday season, we make sure to offer programs and activities that are different from the previous year so that tourists and visitors can enjoy fresh and exciting experiences, noting that Oman\u2019s natural beauty continues to captivate the world\u2014particularly the opportunity to enjoy the seas and beaches, and sailing on dhow boats, which are attracting more tourists, in addition to mountain hiking, excursions, and camping. Mountain activities in both Jabal al-Akhdar and Jabal Shams also attract tourists\u2019 interest.<\/p>\n
Regarding the places and attractions that visitors prefer during the holiday season, Al-Maamari said there are many tourist attractions, most notably the \u201cBima Area,\u201d which consists of a natural rock cliff with groundwater flowing through its center, giving the place a special natural charm. Tourists from all over the world flock to the lake to swim in its pure, crystal-clear waters with their beautiful turquoise hue, as well as to enjoy the eastern sands and desert adventures, in addition to exploring Wadi Shab, Wadi Bani Khalid, Wadi Bani Auf, and other interesting places.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
