Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Development of Diriyah, said that the registration of the historical site of Diriyah in the World Heritage List reinforces the historical value of the Arabian Peninsula as an ancient home of diverse human civilizations, after UNESCO announced two years ago that the site of Mada'in Saleh was included in the World Heritage List.
\nHe said that the UNESCO World Heritage Committee's approval of the registration of Al-Turaif neighborhood in Al-Diriyah as part of the World Heritage List during its 34th session represents a global recognition of the great historical value of this archaeological site and highlights the historical status of the Kingdom and its great civilizational heritage.
\nDiriyah was recently inscribed on the World Heritage List, confirming the Kingdom's historical status, pictured here are some of the city's historic monuments.
\nHe expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince and the Second Deputy - may Allah protect them - for their support and care for efforts aimed at preserving and developing the national heritage to remain a source of pride and a cultural and economic resource.
\nHe added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has many cultural and historical components, and it is important to transfer this culture and civilization to the world and interact with global changes, in order for the Kingdom to highlight its contribution to global civilizational transformations.
\nHe said that the registration of Diriyah in the World Heritage List entails more efforts to protect, preserve, prepare and rehabilitate the site in accordance with the technical commitments and timetable submitted by the Kingdom in the nomination file and management plan, and in accordance with the requirements and specifications of the World Heritage Center and at a level that suits Diriyah as a World Heritage Site and the reputation of the Kingdom's permanent efforts and support for UNESCO, pointing out that the inclusion of Diriyah in the World Heritage List confirms in addition to its historical and architectural importance, its political importance as the capital of the first Saudi state and a scientific and cultural center in the Arabian Peninsula.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
