\n Work is proceeding at a rapid pace to complete the first phase of the affordable housing project in Makkah, which consists of 23 residential buildings with a total of 500 housing units, in addition to a number of commercial buildings and facilities for business and public services, and includes a modern network of roads and streets, as well as water, electricity, and sewage systems.
\nThis comes after the committee overseeing affordable housing completed its outreach to property owners and residents, which had been conducted earlier to allow owners to inspect the housing units and view them on-site, with the aim of getting a close look at the final finishes and to provide their feedback so that it could be incorporated before the final finishing work and handover.
\nWork currently underway includes interior finishing of the residential units, including carpentry, wall painting, electrical work, tiling, and flooring, while exterior infrastructure work is proceeding at full speed, including road construction and the installation of electrical, water, and sewer systems. .
\n For his part, Engineer Mamdouh Al-Harbi, Executive Director of \u2018Wahat Makkah,\u2019 that strict criteria have been established for construction companies, based on the highest engineering standards that include all safety and public health requirements, ensuring the protection of lives and property from natural hazards.
\nHe added that the unit designs were selected based on environmental and economic factors that prioritize sustainability, ensure healthy building conditions, promote energy and water conservation, and improve the indoor environment. It is worth noting that the Makkah Oasis project comprises 2,400 residential units, divided into two geographic areas, including 1,700 affordable housing units, and 700 upscaled housing units ranging from villas and duplexes to apartments of various sizes and layouts, which are still available for sale, in addition to a number of commercial and service buildings and public facilities located throughout several developments.
\nThe Makkah Oasis project includes residential units ranging in size from 80 square meters to 120 square meters per unit; however, demand is highest for the larger units, so we have built the largest number of 120-square-meter units.
