During his opening remarks at the First Saudi Smart Cities Conference yesterday, the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Engineer Abdul Latif bin Abdul Malik Al Sheikh, announced that the ministry has begun forming partnerships to implement smart city projects in 10 cities across the Kingdom, with the aim of achieving one of the most important objectives of the Municipal Transformation Program 2020. .<\/p>\n
Al-Sheikh revealed that the Ministry of Municipal Affairs has adopted a project \u201dStudy of Smart City Components,\u201d which aims to achieve a high degree of sustainable urbanization, implement smart and pioneering infrastructure and public facilities projects, and create self-sufficient urban environments with a high quality of life. He noted that applying smart city concepts will contribute to improving living conditions and well-being throughout the Kingdom, attract local and global investments, and help bring about a qualitative leap for the Kingdom\u2019s cities and increase their competitiveness.<\/p>\n
