{"id":1916,"date":"2014-06-30T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-30T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amlak.net.sa?p=1916"},"modified":"2014-06-30T07:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-06-30T07:00:00","slug":"%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%a3%d9%85%d9%8a%d8%b1-%d8%b3%d9%84%d8%b7%d8%a7%d9%86-%d8%a8%d9%86-%d8%b3%d9%84%d9%85%d8%a7%d9%86-%d9%8a%d8%b3%d8%aa%d9%82%d8%a8%d9%84-%d9%85%d8%b3%d8%a6%d9%88%d9%84%d9%8a-%d8%a7%d9%84","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amlak.net.sa\/en\/1916\/","title":{"rendered":"Prince Sultan bin Salman receives officials of companies qualified to operate gas stations and service centers on regional roads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, received at the Authority\u2019s headquarters on Thursday, 28\/8\/1435 AH, corresponding to 26\/7\/2014 AD, officials from the three companies that met the new requirements for managing and operating service centers on regional roads: Petromin, the Saudi Automotive and Equipment Services Company (SASCO), and Emirates National Oil Company Limited (ENOC). <\/p>\n<p>\u200f<br \/>\nHis Highness welcomed the company officials and congratulated them on meeting the requirements for providing services in this important economic project, expressing his hope that their projects would open soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u200f<br \/>\nHis Highness noted that \u201croadside rest areas\u201d are among the key issues regarding which the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities was the first to highlight their poor conditions, and sought to issue decisions to reorganize them in line with the general strategy for national tourism development approved by the state in 1425 AH, followed by the Authority\u2019s efforts, in collaboration with its government partners\u2014most notably the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior, regional emirates, municipal authorities, and the Ministry of Transportation\u2014 were undertaken to address the state of services at these important locations for citizens, thereby contributing to the development of land travel between the Kingdom\u2019s regions and the promotion of domestic tourism between regions, in light of studies showing that 86% of interregional tourist trips are made via land routes, and the development of these facilities will directly contribute to achieving an integrated tourism experience and alleviating pressure on air travel services.<\/p>\n<p>\u200f<br \/>\nHis Highness expressed his appreciation for the significant efforts made by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, with the support and oversight of His Royal Highness Prince Mansour bin Mutaib, in developing a comprehensive program to improve service centers and gas stations in coordination and collaboration with the General Authority forTourism and Antiquities and other relevant authorities, to be implemented over two years in accordance with the Cabinet decision issued in Jumada al-Awwal of last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u200f<br \/>\nHis Highness emphasized that the Authority has launched several initiatives over the past few years aimed at improving service levels, including working with regional emirates and municipal authorities to conduct field surveys and evaluations of all stations and facilities, as well as the announcement of a quality certification program through which the Authority awards certificates to stations that take the initiative to improve their services and undergo evaluation in accordance with the high standards set by the Authority, preparing guideline designs for these stations and their operating mechanisms, in addition to working with the Automotive Services Company (SASCO) to radically upgrade its stations so that they live up to the reputation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and meet the standards deserved by citizens and road users in the Kingdom, and to complement the high standard of the road network that the government has completed to connect the Kingdom\u2019s regions, as well as to issue a decision by His Highness the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs requiring roadside stations to obtain licenses for their roadside rest areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u200f<br \/>\nHis Highness noted that roadside rest areas represent a large market that has yet to be tapped, and that, once developed and upgraded, they will become a major economic activity. He added that the promotion of tourism and the significant growth it is experiencing will lead to a major expansion of investments in this sector, in which only those who meet high standards will survive, He called on companies to train Saudi citizens and employ them in operating the facilities associated with the rest stops, providing them with suitable job opportunities, and to link these stations to neighboring heritage villages and towns, so that the products of the residents of those villages\u2014including handicrafts, heritage items, agricultural products, and others\u2014can be showcased, in addition to focusing on establishing high-quality facilities that attract travelers and tourists\u2014such as restaurants, motels, and other services\u2014so that these rest stops serve as a catalyst for enjoyable tourist trips.<\/p>\n<p>\u200f<br \/>\nHis Royal Highness Prince Dr. Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, had presented three-year final qualification certificates to three companies for the management, operation, and maintenance of gas stations and service centers on regional roads: Petro, the Saudi Automotive and Equipment Services Company (SASCO), and the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC).<\/p>\n<p>\u200f<br \/>\nThe Ministry has prepared a comprehensive program to improve service centers and gas stations in cooperation with the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Transportation, and the relevant authorities.
