On Saturday, April 28, 2018, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz laid the foundation stone for the Qiddiya project, which aims to build a range of recreational sports activities and cultural shows within new advanced facilities and facilities that meet the needs of everyone, from amusement parks to game parks, racing fields and safaris, in addition to attracting international investments and providing 57,000 job opportunities for Saudis.<\/p>\n
Groundbreaking<\/strong><\/p>\n After the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques arrived at the headquarters of the project and the end of the official reception ceremony, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the audience watched a theatrical performance simulating the development of the Kingdom under the wise leadership and its wise guidance to take advantage of the enormous potential and achieve, God willing, the goals set forth in Vision 2030, in addition to the recreational parks, sports activities and natural scenes included in the Qiddiya project.<\/p>\n Five key pillars of the Qiddiya project\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n Qiddiya CEO Michael Reininger said that the project is based on five main pillars: parks and attractions; mobility; nature and environment; sports and health; and culture, arts and education. \u201cWe will move forward with the development of the project supported by a series of retail, residential and hospitality facilities, which will be a major integrated entertainment destination,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He invited investors, innovators and operators from around the world to explore what a unique project like Qiddiya has to offer, noting that the project will work with the best international organizations to create a new entertainment experience for all residents and visitors to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n \"The project is a key building block of Vision 2030 and will contribute to the growth of the creative industries in Saudi Arabia,\" said Reininger, noting that almost two-thirds of the Saudi population is under the age of 35 and there are more than seven million people within 40 kilometers of the project site, which assures international investors that there is a huge untapped market.<\/p>\n The CEO revealed that Qiddiya is 2.5 times the size of Disney World, or 100 times the size of Central Park, which will welcome 17 million visitors by 2030, attracting 12 million shopping trips and 2 million visits to various hospitality facilities.<\/p>\n Recovering $30 billion in foreign tourism <\/strong><\/p>\n The CEO emphasized that Qiddiya will succeed in recovering part of what Saudis spend annually on tourism and recreational activities outside the Kingdom, which amounts to about 30 billion dollars. The project is one of the many qualitative achievements that the Kingdom will achieve in the coming years, and is one of three mega projects of the Public Investment Fund, led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Public Investment Fund, which will effectively enhance competitiveness in attracting global
