The Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency (Kefaya) confirmed that the measurement of energy efficiency in thermal insulation materials is done through the thermal transition of all external building elements, i.e., scientifically known as the U-value; the lower the U-value, the higher the energy efficiency of the building material.<\/p>\n
Thermal insulation is defined as reducing the transfer of heat through parts of the building, especially (walls, ceilings, and windows), and its external elements, whether from the inside to the outside, as in winter (heat loss), or from the outside to the inside, as in summer (heat gain).<\/p>\n
The Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency (Kefaya) stated that the application of thermal insulation in buildings contributes to reducing the electrical energy consumed in air conditioning and heating by 30 to 40 percent, while the use of double-glazed and heat-reflective glass reduces the air conditioner\u2019s electricity consumption by up to 5 percent. The owners of buildings are recommended to use light exterior colors for the building because they reduce heat absorption (heat gain).<\/p>\n
According to recent studies, the cost of thermal insulation in buildings (walls, ceilings, and windows) ranges between 3 and 5% of the total cost of the building; this is an acceptable cost given the immense benefits that will accrue to the citizen and the nation from implementing and promoting the use of thermal insulation applications.<\/p>\n
According to experts, the importance of applying thermal insulation in buildings lies in maintaining a moderate temperature within the building for a long period; this leads to reducing the operation of air conditioning or heating devices, and its effect is reflected in the consumption value in the electricity bill; it also reduces the high costs of operation and maintenance, prolongs the lifespan of appliances and household furniture, in addition to extending the lifespan of the building, reducing structural cracks, resisting fire, and reducing structural loads by reducing the weight of the materials used in it, and protecting the environment.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
