His Excellency the Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, stressed that the establishment of an e-commerce council is in line with the global interest in e-commerce and unifies the efforts of all government agencies towards creating a stimulating environment for e-commerce in the Kingdom to contribute to strengthening the national economy while facilitating its business and keeping pace with its international developments.<\/p>\n
His Excellency said:\u201d The Cabinet's approval today of the formation of the E-Commerce Council contributes to the growth and enhancement of the e-commerce business system, which is one of the strategic objectives of the National Transformation Program 2020 in support of achieving the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by creating an attractive and stimulating environment for investors, stressing that the Council contributes to the development of the sector and the coordination of efforts related to e-commerce among all relevant authorities, and keeps pace with the developments in the e-commerce market and proposes policies and legislation to improve infrastructure in coordination with government agencies and oversee the initiative of the e-commerce incentive program.<\/p>\n
According to Dr. Al-Qasabi, the council will work to coordinate the efforts of all relevant authorities, facilitate e-commerce business and ensure the effective implementation of the projects and recommendations of the e-commerce incentive program initiative, in addition to ensuring consumer rights and enhancing confidence in e-transactions.<\/p>\n
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, in cooperation with the Digital Transformation Committee, has finalized the e-commerce strategy and will be one of the most prominent tasks of the Council to oversee the implementation of the initiatives allocated in this strategy, and the Ministry has completed the preparation of the e-commerce system, and is studying with the competent authorities and aims to support and develop e-commerce activities, enhance confidence in e-commerce transactions and their safety to increase their contribution to the national economy, and provide the necessary protection for e-commerce transactions from fraud, deception, misinformation and fraud.<\/p>\n
