Extends The \u00abSports Track\u00bb project\u00bb<\/a> \u2013 One of Riyadh\u2019s major projects\u2014launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques last week\u2014\u00abstretching 135 kilometers across the city of Riyadh, connecting Wadi Hanifa in the west of the city with Wadi Al-Sali in the east, and features sports, cultural, recreational, and environmental activities, including 85 kilometers of recreational cycling trails for amateurs, 135 kilometers of cycling trails for professionals, and 123 kilometers of horseback riding trails, as well as a safe, tree-lined pedestrian path along the route, along with a network of gates, stations, and rest areas for cyclists and hikers throughout the city. In Wadi Hanifa and Wadi Al-Sali, recreational services are provided for cyclists and hikers, including cafes and a variety of shops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8 Key Components of the Path<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The trail features green spaces and open areas covering more than 3.5 million square meters, which are being planted with 120,000 new trees irrigated with 100% treated water, as well as a collection of landmarks and artistic installations scattered along the trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The athletic track consists of 8 main components distributed across its various sections, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The Wadi Hanifa Trail:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It stretches 29.5 kilometers from Al-Alab Dam in Dir\u2019iya in the north to the Medina Road in the south, and features trails for amateur and professional cyclists, as well as paths for pedestrians and horses, It is connected to a cycling training center next to the Al-Safarat neighborhood and features 13 stations along the valley, each of which includes a bicycle repair center, a variety of cafes, and shops to serve park visitors and athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Arts Area:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It stretches 3 kilometers east of King Khalid Road and features cultural, artistic, and recreational activities, as well as trails for pedestrians, cyclists, and horseback riders, and seating areas for visitors, along with a range of centers, galleries, libraries, studios, performance venues, arts forums, lecture halls, and investment zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. The Eissen Region:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is located along the course of Wadi Al-Eisen, stretching 3.5 kilometers from Suwayd bin Haritha Street to the west of King Fahd Road, and is bisected by a low-lying water channel in the form of an open park featuring walking and biking paths, seating areas for visitors, and commercial zones. It is connected to an elevated walkway that links to the King Abdullah Financial District. .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. The Entertainment Area:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is located east of King Fahd Road up to Othman bin Affan Road, stretching four kilometers in length, and includes a 40-kilometer-long bridge for professional cyclists and a ground-level track for amateur cyclists, as well as a complex for film and theater performances, an open-air cinema, venues for events and interactive sound-and-light shows, and a number of terraces and parks shaped like natural hills, and open plazas equipped with water mist systems. Overlooking these features is a series of residential, office, and commercial facilities available for investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Sports Area:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It stretches 5 kilometers from east of Othman bin Affan Road to east of Airport Road and includes 60 sports facilities, among them: 16 soccer fields, 18 indoor courts, 12 outdoor courts for volleyball, basketball, and tennis, and a skating rink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area also features a \u00absports tower\u00bb that includes courts and training facilities for various sports, including running, golf, boxing, basketball, tennis, badminton, swimming, water polo, rock climbing, archery, ice hockey, and others, as well as a cycling track on the lower levels. Adjacent to the tower is an enclosed, underground track for bicycle racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of this section, the trail connects to a side trail that runs along the airport road and circles Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Ecological Region:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It stretches from east of Airport Road to Janadriyah Road along Wadi Al-Sali, covering a distance of 14 kilometers, and features an elevated trail for professional cyclists, a ground-level trail for amateur cyclists, and walking and running trails connected to neighboring neighborhoods, as well as rest stops and rest areas, alongside areas for teaching plant cultivation and conservation, sites specializing in environmental sustainability, fields and greenhouses for seed and agricultural product development and organic food production, as well as a number of recreational areas, residential facilities, shopping centers, restaurants, and cafes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Wadi al-Sali Area:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The trail stretches along the Al-Sali Valley from King Fahd International Stadium in the south to Banban Park in the north, covering a distance of 53 kilometers. It features bike trails for professionals, as well as walking and horseback riding trails, interspersed with 15 stations and rest areas, as well as areas for picnicking and camping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Sand Dunes Park:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is located in the sandy area southeast of King Khalid International Airport, covering an area of 20 square kilometers, and features mountain and desert bike trails for professionals, an equestrian center and horseback riding trails, a visitor center, stations, rest areas, and complexes for cyclists, a rural resort hotel, various residential facilities, botanical gardens, and a 5-square-kilometer animal safari park, as well as a prominent artistic landmark\u2014a 50-meter-high, rose-shaped winding trail\u2014that allows cyclists to climb to the top and enjoy views of the surrounding natural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A range of public facilities and services are distributed along the sports trail, including mosques, as well as security, health, educational, and social centers, and parking lots. The trail is connected to three lines of the Riyadh Metro network: (the Yellow Line, the Purple Line, and the Blue Line) and four Riyadh Metro stations, including the King Abdullah Financial District main station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
