Revealed Saudi Real Estate Refinance Company<\/a> (a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund) announced that the Ministry of Finance will provide sovereign guarantees for the sukuk that the company will issue in the future, based on a strategic agreement signed between the Ministry and the company at the Financial Sector Development Conference. (Mortgage financing).<\/p>\n

The agreement provides for the issuance of unconditional guarantees, payable upon first demand, for the sukuk to be issued by the Saudi Real Estate Refinance Company, This agreement also incentivizes the Saudi Real Estate Refinance Company to provide liquidity to attract foreign and local investors through capital markets, which ultimately benefits the borrower, with the goal of increasing real estate ownership in the Kingdom to 60% by 2020 and up to 70% by 2030, The agreement also encourages the company to provide liquidity to banks and real estate finance companies in the Kingdom with the goal of refinancing at least 10% of the real estate finance market by 2020, and up to 20% by 2028. The announcement comes shortly after the Saudi Real Estate Refinancing Company completed the issuance of 750 million Saudi riyals in two tranches, as part of the \u201cSukuk\u201d program launched by the company in December 2018 with a value of 11 billion Saudi riyals, making it the first non-sovereign issuer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 2019.<\/p>\n

The program is primarily aimed at facilitating the Saudi Real Estate Refinancing Company\u2019s acquisition of mortgage loan portfolios held by banks and specialized real estate finance companies in the Kingdom, thereby injecting more liquidity needed for mortgage loans into the markets. The Saudi Real Estate Refinance Company looks to capitalize on market opportunities through several issuances in 2019.<\/p>\n
