The Ministry said that \u201cKhumra\u201d is an umbrella for a group of logistics zones and platforms that will be launched during the coming period through a comprehensive strategy and plan prepared in advance. This will have a great impact on supply chains and the logistics sector in the Kingdom, and is expected to form the largest integrated logistics area that embodies the process of cooperation for the transportation and logistics system in the country. (Investment)\n<h3><strong>Promising growth opportunities in the logistics sector<\/strong><\/h3>\nIn a speech delivered on Sunday during the opening of the \u201cThird Saudi Logistics Conference\u201d at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh, Dr. Nabil Al Amoudi stressed the keenness of the Kingdom's government, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince, on everything that would promote the various business and production sectors in the Kingdom to enhance our national economy and push comprehensive development forward for the prosperity of our people and the prosperity of our homeland. Al-Amoudi added: \u201dThe conference will witness special stations to talk about the details of this zone and the advantages it will provide, in addition to the added value it will bring to the maritime transportation and logistics sector in the Kingdom and the region.\n\nThe Minister of Transport praised the achievement achieved by the transportation system on behalf of Saudi Arabia during the Global Competitiveness Report 2019. He noted the new ranking achieved by the Kingdom in the Global Competitiveness Report index, where it jumped to 36th place, in addition to achieving significant progress in the transportation infrastructure index from 40th to 34th, as well as the efficiency of train services from 50th to 26th this year. He explained that all these results were achieved as a result of the tireless work of the transportation system in collaboration with government agencies and the cooperation of the private sector with the aim of providing a suitable climate and overcoming all difficulties to create promising growth opportunities in the history of the logistics sector.\n<h3><strong>2 million square meters waiting for investment<\/strong><\/h3>\nIt is noteworthy that Khumra exceeds an area of 2 million square meters in its first phase, which will be offered to the private sector to contribute to enhancing the Kingdom's strategic position as a hub in the movement of trade exchange, especially between the three continents of Europe, Asia and Africa, as this logistics zone will be a customs deposit and re-export platform as part of its efforts to optimize the use of its capabilities and advanced capacities in Saudi ports.\n\nThe Khumra Logistics Zone is working to create an investment climate for the private sector to invest in land for the development of logistics sectors. The size of the logistics sector in Saudi Arabia is estimated at 65 billion riyals and is expected to reach 70 billion riyals by 2020.\n\nThis sector will contribute to enhancing Saudi Arabia's strategic position as a hub for trade exchange, especially between the three continents of Europe, Asia and Africa.\n<h3 style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit;\"><strong>7,000 visitors at the conference<\/strong><\/h3>\nThe days of the conference witnessed dialog sessions in which a group of CEOs of operational support organizations participated to present their experiences in projects that are provided to customers as logistics and supply services, exchange visions and ideas to create a favorable climate that enhances the partnership and competitiveness of the business sector.
