With the participation of more than 60 international experts from major international academic and research institutions, the \"Riyadh: The Sustainable City\" forum, organized by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, kicked off on Tuesday to introduce the importance of the four major Riyadh projects (King Salman Park Project, Sports Track Project, Green Riyadh Project, and Riyadh Art Project), launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, in Rajab 1441 H (March 2019) to improve the quality of life in the city and raise it to the leading position it deserves.<\/p>\n
The forum aims to exchange opinion, experience and advice on the impact that these major qualitative projects will have on the various sectors of Riyadh city: The forum also discusses a range of issues related to sustainable urban development in Riyadh, such as climate change, preserving the natural environment, managing resources and projects, energy conservation and production, and legal frameworks and initiatives to support positive change, promote culture and spread the arts in society.<\/p>\n
The two-day forum, which will take place in the library's Great Hall, will highlight the four most ambitious mega projects in Riyadh, which stem from the initiative of His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.<\/p>\n
King Salman Park is the largest city park in the world, with an area of 13.4 square kilometers - almost four times the size of New York's Central Park - and its pivotal geographical location in the heart of Riyadh, its connection to the city's main roads and public transportation project, and its inclusion of green areas, open squares, a range of theaters, cinema complexes, arts academies, sports stadiums, residential, hotel, office and commercial complexes, and recreational cities.<\/p>\n
The \u00abSports Track\u00bb project, which will connect Wadi Hanifa in the west of the city to Wadi Al-Sali in the east, through Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road, with extension areas in both valleys with a total length of 135 km, and includes bicycle and horse tracks and pedestrian paths, within a variety of sports, artistic, cultural, recreational and environmental activities that are distributed along the project.<\/p>\n
