A royal decree was issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, stipulating that the state will cover 60% of the salaries of Saudi employees in the private sector who are registered with Social Security<\/a>... a great sense of satisfaction and optimism The local economy is overcoming the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>... with total allocated funds amounting to nine billion riyals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exemption from Absence from Work<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The royal decree exempted Saudi employees at private-sector establishments\naffected by the current repercussions of the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-\n19), from Articles 8, 10, and 14 of the Unemployment Insurance Law\n, such that the employer, instead of terminating the Saudi worker\u2019s contract, is entitled to submit\nto the Social Insurance Authority for a monthly compensation payment for their employees equal to 60 % of the wage\nregistered with the Social Insurance Authority for a period of three months, up to a maximum of 9,000 riyals per month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The support mechanism is compatible with the insurance system<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Organization\nfor Social Insurance, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, explained that the support mechanism will be in accordance with the conditions\nset forth in the Unemployment Insurance System (SANED) for establishments covered\nby the Royal Decree, whereby\ncovers 100% of Saudi employees working in establishments with five Saudi employees\nor fewer, and up to 70\n% of Saudi employees working in establishments with more than five\n, with the employer exempt from the obligation to pay the monthly wage to beneficiaries in accordance with\nthe Royal Decree, and the establishment is not entitled to require the employee to work during the period of compensation payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compensation will begin this April<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Al-Jadaan explained that the number of Saudi workers eligible for the compensation\nexceeds (1.2 million), and applications for the compensation will begin in April\n, with payments to be made starting on the first working day of May 2020 to cover wages for the month of\nApril. This applies to Saudi workers in all private-sector establishments that were unable to pay\nwages to their Saudi employees due to the repercussions of the novel coronavirus (COVID-\n19) crisis. The Royal Decree stipulates that establishments must resume paying wages to eligible employees\nin accordance with the Royal Decree as soon as the compensation ceases. The establishment is also required to continue\npaying wages to the remaining workers (Saudis and non-Saudis) who are not covered by this\ncompensation.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
