Announced Ministry of Finance<\/a> Revenues totaled 192 billion riyals during the three-month period from January through the end of March 2020, while the Kingdom\u2019s budget expenditures for the same quarter of the year amounted to approximately 226.2 billion riyals, resulting in a budget deficit of 34.1 billion riyals. This was announced during the Ministry\u2019s review of the budget for the first quarter of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The leadership has taken a number of\nprecautionary measures to combat the coronavirus, including increased spending on the health sector, as well as\na number of initiatives to support the private sector and small and medium-sized enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The financial results for the first quarter\nof 2020 showed oil revenues of 128.77 billion riyals, compared with 169 billion riyals\nin the first quarter of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Non-oil revenues totaled\n63.3 billion riyals, compared with 76.3 billion riyals in the same period last year. Tax revenues from goods\nand services totaled 30.4 billion riyals, while other revenues totaled 23 billion riyals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With regard to financing, first-quarter figures\nrevealed that 9 billion riyals were raised from the current account, 11.2 billion riyals from domestic debt,\nand 18.5 billion riyals from external financing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2017, the Ministry of Finance has been releasing budget data on a quarterly basis, with the aim of promoting transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
