The policy will be valid for ten years, and there will be no room for manipulation in the insurance process.<br \/><br \/>Four agencies are responsible for inspecting contractors\u201c compliance with the Saudi Building Code, under the leadership of the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing through the approved \u201dBaladi\u201d online platform.<br \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to statements by Eng. Saad Al-Sha\u2019il, Secretary-General of the National Committee for the Saudi Building Code, and Dr. Hassan bin Shawki Al-Hazmi, General Supervisor of the Land Agency and the Technical Affairs Agency at the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing, mandatory insurance for residential buildings will take effect starting in July of this year, 2021; which corresponds to tomorrow, Thursday, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar.<br \/><br \/>It has been decided to require owners of residential buildings with three stories or fewer to purchase an insurance policy covering hidden defects in the buildings, The policy will be valid for 10 years and will cover defects in construction work and other elements that compromise the strength, stability, and structural integrity of the buildings; provided that the insurance covers soil and construction inspections, and the policy requires that the defects not have been discovered as of the date the certificate was issued.<br \/><br \/>According to the statements, the insured will be compensated for the costs of repair, replacement, and reinforcement of buildings resulting from hidden defects that are discovered, and reported to the company during the insurance coverage period.
