The national tourism sector is rapidly moving toward the future, guided by its strategy and the Kingdom\u2019s Vision 2030, as well as its projects and initiatives that are working tirelessly to promote tourist destinations rich in geographic and historical diversity, and highlighting natural resources, archaeological treasures, and historic sites that meet the expectations of tourists.
The Kingdom has become a destination for tourists from countries in the region and around the world, with the number of visas issued\u2014even before the COVID-19 pandemic\u2014reaching approximately 450,000, This has been the case since the Saudi Tourism Authority launched the tourist visa in 2019, initially targeting 49 countries and facilitating the acquisition of tourist visas electronically or at points of entry into the Kingdom, subject to specific regulatory controls.
The Authority has developed programs to attract tourists, worked to stimulate investment in tourism and strengthen the role of the private sector, participated in local and international tourism exhibitions, and promoted destinations, sites, itineraries, tourism products, and packages both domestically and internationally.
Marketing and promotional campaigns for tourist destinations in the Kingdom have been launched, the most recent of which is the \u201cSaudi Summer\u201d program, launched by the \u201cSpirit of Saudi Arabia\u201d platform under the slogan \u201cOur Summer Is On You,\u201d to promote 11 tourist destinations through the end of September, featuring more than 500 tourist experiences offered by 250 private-sector partners.
Tourism is one of the pillars of the Kingdom\u2019s Vision 2030, aimed at contributing to the diversification of the national economy, attracting investment, increasing sources of income, and providing employment opportunities for citizens, The sector is experiencing rapid growth thanks to plans to revitalize the tourism industry, and performance indicators have been established in line with the 2030 targets to increase the number of annual visits to 100 million by 2030, including 55 million international visits and 45 million domestic visits, creating one million jobs and increasing the country\u2019s gross domestic product by 10%.
Marking a new chapter in domestic tourism, cruise ships\u2014which serve as giant floating resorts\u2014have set sail from the Port of Jeddah to explore the treasures of the Red Sea. They offer a variety of packages designed to provide travelers with an enjoyable summer vacation.
The Saudi Tourism Authority also announced the \u201cSaudi Expert\u201d initiative to support partners and develop tourism products. It has developed a dedicated program to help the tourism sector improve the quality of its services and offerings and strengthen cooperation among its members, and other related services.
