His Excellency Majid bin Abdullah Al-Haqil, Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing, launched the Second Virtual International Construction Conference and Exhibition, organized by the Saudi Contractors Authority. The event will run for three days, from September 26 \u2013 28 of this month.
The conference aims to serve as a platform for the construction sector to learn, gain insights, exchange experiences, and create opportunities for large-scale projects through scientific lectures, seminars, and international events, featuring more than 32 local and international speakers.
More than 28 organizations are participating in the conference and its sessions, most notably: the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the General Authority for State Real Estate, the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, the Etimad Platform, and the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority. The discussions will focus on the following topics: \u201cRegulations, Legislation, and Business Qualification,\u201d \u201dBest Practices for Business and Project Management,\u201d and \u201cThe Impact of Technology on the Construction Sector,\u201d along with a review of the most notable global experiences in this area.
His Excellency also launched a package of services from the Saudi Contractors Authority, all of which are aimed at supporting and developing the construction sector in the Kingdom, foremost among which is \u201cConsulting Services,\u201d which provide the necessary advice and guidance to individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, and project owners in the construction sector through an integrated online platform that saves time and effort and connects them with top experts in various administrative, technical, and construction fields, alongside the \u201cContractor Evaluation Service,\u201d which aims to enhance transparency and competitiveness in the construction sector by enabling project owners to evaluate contractor performance,
In addition to a third service aimed at \u201cSearch for Construction Supervisors\u201d\u2014a service launched by the Authority to facilitate communication between project owners and construction supervisors by enabling construction supervisors to showcase their expertise and skills on a unified platform that allows project owners to search for and evaluate them, All of these services are available through the Muqawwal platform: (https:\/\/muqawil.org\/). The Authority is also working with the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing\u2014represented by the City Operators Services Regulatory Agency\u2014on a number of key initiatives to advance this sector.
The conference saw the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding during the ceremony with several entities, including the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training, enabling the establishment of cooperation between the two parties in the areas of training and development in accordance with technical training regulations and systems, as well as the exchange of consulting services, research findings, and administrative and knowledge-based expertise between the two parties, In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, aimed at cooperating to identify and address the challenges and obstacles facing contractors.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed with the Saudi Electricity Company, aimed at encouraging contractors interested in carrying out the company\u2019s projects and highlighting investment opportunities for participation in the company\u2019s contracts and projects, In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration, to establish cooperation between the two parties in the areas of developing and improving the quality of model dispute resolution clauses, disseminating them throughout the construction sector, providing the necessary technical support to the Authority, and exchanging expertise between the two parties. The Authority also signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Institute for Industrial Training (NITI)
To provide technical and administrative consulting services to contractors and interested parties through the consulting services platform developed by the Authority, to foster cooperation between the two parties, and to adopt initiatives that help address the challenges facing the construction sector.
The Authority signed a memorandum of understanding with the Leading National Academy (LNA) aimed at cooperation and the training and development of female staff in various technical, professional, and administrative fields, as well as to develop and deliver training and educational programs and professional certifications for women currently working or seeking employment in the construction sector. In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the National Training Center for Facilities Management and Hospitality (FHM), which will strengthen cooperation between the two parties in the field of specialized management consulting in facilities management and hospitality, and provide technical and administrative consulting services to contractors and those interested in facilities management and hospitality through the consulting services platform.
These efforts by the Saudi Contractors Authority are part of its ongoing commitment to align with the plans, programs, and goals of Vision 2030, which have driven construction growth in the Kingdom\u2019s residential and non-residential sectors, and have contributed to increased investment in the entertainment and tourism sectors, as well as a growing demand for urban expansion and residential development. The construction sector is the second-largest non-oil sector in the Kingdom, and the contracting industry is a cornerstone of this sector.
