On Monday, the Shura Council discussed the annual report of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for the fiscal year 1441\/1442 AH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shura Council member Mona Al-Fadli called on the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to set a timeline for completing fiber-optic coverage within cities, as well as wireless broadband networks in villages, and to promote the localization of jobs and specify the job levels for localized positions, according to a post by the Council on its official Twitter account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council member Saleh Al-Shamrani, suggested that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology examine the significant fluctuations in its annual performance results as measured by international indicators related to the telecommunications sector and improve its performance through a clear and well-thought-out strategy for these indicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shura Council member Aisha Zakri called on the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to work on enriching Arabic-language technical content on its digital platforms, in line with the scale of the high-quality technical initiatives and programs launched by the Kingdom as the largest regional technology hub in the Middle East and North Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Member Saad Al-Otaibi called on the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to develop proactive technical solutions using artificial intelligence to combat cyber fraud in cooperation with government agencies, emphasizing the importance of regulating the operations of delivery companies operating through platforms and apps by establishing a set of terms and conditions for service provision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During today\u2019s session, the Council also discussed the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center\u2019s annual report for the fiscal year 1441\/1442 AH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shura Council member Abdullah Al-Najjar called on the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center to intensify and expand its efforts to prepare and train qualified Saudi professionals in this field; this could be achieved by encouraging qualified private-sector training providers to participate in and serve this sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council member Sultana Al-Badawi called for supporting the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center by establishing a specialized laboratory to test the energy efficiency of products in cooperation with the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shura Council member Saleh Al-Shamrani called on the center to coordinate with relevant local, regional, and international entities to implement legislation and policies related to renewable and sustainable energy, and to launch targeted awareness campaigns for consumers; aimed at calculating and comparing the costs of different energy sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Board member Hisham Al-Faris proposed that the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center establish a periodic award for excellence in energy efficiency in order to raise awareness and increase incentives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Council member Nabih Al-Ibrahim called for the introduction of incentives and rewards\u2014such as increased subsidies and reduced fees\u2014for compliance with energy efficiency programs aimed at rationalizing consumption, and for the suspension of subsidies in the event of noncompliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
