My latest economic report issued by the Ministry of Economy and Planning indicates that the construction activity\u00a0 <\/span>It remains a hidden gem among the most growing activities in the economy, with its growth rate in 2014 reaching about 6.74 %, due to the continued government investment spending on massive infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n

The report explained\u00a0 <\/span>Year-on-year, although the value of the GDP from the activity increased, the growth rate began to decline compared to the previous year\u2019s growth rate of 7.77 %%. This is due to the fact that many projects have already been completed or their funds were spent last year, and the share of the construction activity in GDP growth has decreased from 0.4 % in 2013 to 0.3 % in 2014.<\/p>\n

In 2014, the prices of most construction materials saw a decline, with the price of iron ore falling from 3094.4 riyals per ton in 2013 to 2903.8 riyals per ton in 2014, a decrease of 6.2%.<\/p>\n

The prices of cables also decreased by 4.9 %, as well as the price of cement bags by a meager 2%. Meanwhile, the price per cubic meter of wood increased from 2575 riyals in 2013 to 2625 riyals in 2014, as well as the price per cubic meter of ready-made concrete slightly increased from 205.3 riyals in 2013 to 206.3 riyals in 2014.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
