Building materials prices in local markets. Cement Continues to Rise, Steel Declines<\/span><\/h4>\n

Cement prices continued to rise for the second consecutive month, while steel prices continued to fall for the sixth consecutive month at the end of April.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Average Cement Price<\/span><\/h4>\n

According to General Authority for Statistics<\/a><\/span>The average price of cement in the Kingdom rose by the end of the month for the second month in a row, to the highest level in 28 months, and the average price of cement increased to 14.11 riyals per 50 kg bag by the end of the same month, the highest average since December 2020 when it reached 14.12 riyals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The average price of cement rose in April compared to March, when it reached SR13.98 per bag, compared to SR13.90 per bag at the end of February.<\/span><\/p>\n

Black cement prices in the Kingdom increased in April both year-on-year and month-on-month, rising by about 5.4% compared to the same month last year, and by about 1.8% from March 2023.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The average price of a 50-kilogram bag of cement recorded 15.22 riyals, compared to 14.44 riyals in April of last year 2022, and compared to 14.95 riyals in the previous month.<\/span><\/p>\n

White cement<\/span><\/h4>\n

The price of white cement decreased by 1.8% per 50-kg bag to SR38.29, compared to SR39 in the same month of 2022, and decreased by 1.6% compared to its price of SR38.93 in March.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The price of a ton of black cement in Saudi Arabia was 304.4 riyals at the end of April, while the price of a ton of white cement was 765.8 riyals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Iron prices<\/span><\/h4>\n

Data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) in its monthly bulletin showed that the average price of a ton of steel in local markets at the end of April continued to decline for the sixth consecutive month, reaching its lowest level since the end of 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

The average price of a ton of iron in the Kingdom fell to 3108.33 riyals per ton by the end of April, the lowest level in 28 months, since it was recorded at 3006.59 riyals per ton in December 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

The average price per ton in the same month fell by 23.97 riyals and by 0.77% compared to its price of 3132.27 riyals in March, continuing its decline for the sixth consecutive month. The average price per ton was 3170.95 riyals in February and 3287.43 riyals in January 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

On an annual basis, the average price per ton fell 27.6%, down 1184.51 riyals compared to the April 2022 price of 4292.81 riyals.<\/span><\/p>\n

In April 2022, the average price of a ton of steel in Saudi Arabia reached its highest level in more than 13 years, since it reached 4,890 riyals in December 2008.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the beginning of this year, the average price per ton has fallen by 219.46 riyals, a decrease of 6.6%, compared to its price at the end of 2022 of 3327.76 riyals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Steel prices in the Kingdom fell almost collectively by the end of last month compared to March 2023, and fell collectively year-on-year compared to the price level in the corresponding month of 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

On a year-on-year basis, national 8mm rebar fell by 33.8% compared to its price in April 2022 to 3027.96 riyals per ton, followed by national 10mm rebar with a 32.9% decline to 3091.15 riyals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The price of 12mm national steel fell by 28.79% to 2871.66 riyals per ton, then 16mm national steel and 14mm national steel by 28.79% and 28.77% respectively, to reach 2871.9 riyals and 2872.58 riyals per ton respectively, then 18mm national steel with a decrease of 28.68% to 2874.21 riyals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The price of national 6mm steel, the most expensive type, fell by 12.4% in April 2023 on an annual basis, to 4148.61 riyals per ton, down 588.45 riyals per ton from its price of 4737.06 riyals in the same month last year.<\/span><\/p>\n

In terms of month-on-month price levels, all types declined except for 6mm national steel, which rose slightly by 0.03%, while declines for other types ranged from 0.7% to 1%.<\/span><\/p>\n
