Excluding the pandemic period, the index fell to its lowest level since the global financial crisis in early 2009.<\/p>\n<p>This comes as construction activity in the <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/amlak.net.sa\/en\/?s=%D8%A8%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%B7%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%8A%D8%A7\">Britain<\/a> <\/strong><\/span>The sector's purchasing managers' index rose to 51.6 points last month from 51.1 points in April thanks to construction activity for commercial buildings and civil engineering projects. The average forecast of analysts polled by Bloomberg was 50.8 points.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Growth of economic activity<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>An index reading above 50 points indicates growth in economic activity in the sector, while a reading below 50 points indicates contraction.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the decline in housing construction activity is the clearest sign yet that developers are responding to the weak real estate market by scaling back their activities.
