The Saudi flag is a timeless symbol of the Kingdom's history, as its development throughout history has been linked to the stages that our country went through as it moved towards establishment and took on the appearance of an organized state.<\/p>\n

Affirming the status of the flag and its high position in drawing the identity and symbolism of the state, King Abdulaziz, may God protect him, approved the shape of the flag on March 11, 1937, to emphasize the great connotations of this flag, which indicates growth, giving and prosperity, and the flag has undergone a number of changes in its design while retaining its essence, which is the green color and the word Tawhid.<\/p>\n

Stages in the development of science<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

First: Flag of the Emirate of Diriyah<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This period lasted from 1750 to 1818, when the flag was green with a white crescent moon in the center.<\/p>\n

Second: The flag of the Emirate of Najd<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Between 1902 and 1921, when Saudi Arabia was called the \u201cEmirate of Najd\u201d and the founding king entered Riyadh, the crescent moon was replaced with the word \"La ilaha illallah\" (there is no god but Allah) on a full green flag.<\/p>\n

III: Green, Martyrdom, and the Sword<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1938, it became two-thirds as wide as it is long, with a green color that extends from the flagpole to the end of the flag, with the word martyrdom in white, with the addition of a sword drawn in the same color.<\/p>\n

IV: The Parallelism of the Sword and the Testimony<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In 1973, during the reign of the late King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, a new royal decree was issued stipulating that the flag should be on a green flag, including the word martyrdom, with a sword armed underneath and parallel to it.<\/p>\n

Fifth: Do not lower the flag<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

In 1993, a Supreme Decree was issued, which stipulated in its third article that the flag of the Saudi state shall be as follows: Its color is green, its width is equal to two-thirds of its length, with the words \u201cThere is no god but God and Muhammad is the messenger of God\u201d in the center, under which is a sword with a drawn sword, and the flag is never lowered (due to the presence of the two certificates in it).<\/p>\n
