A report released by \u201cStrategy & Middle East\u201d and PricewaterhouseCoopers revealed that it is expected that Construction techniques<\/strong><\/span><\/a> A massive surge worth up to two trillion dollars.<\/p>\n

The report explained that the Middle East is poised to become a global leader in the adoption of innovative, sustainability-focused construction technologies, given the ongoing investments in new \u00abbuilt environments,\u00bb which are expected to reach $2 trillion by 2035.<\/p>\n

Exemplary Construction Projects<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The report emphasized that these technologies represent a golden opportunity for the region to cover more than half the ground toward achieving net-zero emissions targets, citing in this regard a number of massive construction projects currently underway in the region, including the futuristic city of Neom in Saudi Arabia and the planned Lusail entertainment city in Qatar.<\/p>\n

The term \u00abbuilt environments\u00bb refers to the human-made surroundings that provide the appropriate context and necessary resources for human activity, including buildings, neighborhoods, cities, and supporting infrastructure such as water supply facilities and energy networks.<\/p>\n

Processes related to the development of new built environments include urban planning, real estate development, construction, and the construction of operational assets\u2014all of which can benefit from innovative, sustainability-focused construction methods and technologies.<\/p>\n

A Major Boom in the Construction Sector<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, this significant boom in the construction sector across the Middle East is expected to have a substantial economic impact by contributing more than 10% annually to the region\u2019s gross domestic product, and creating 4.3 million jobs annually, provided the recommendations outlined in the report are implemented.<\/p>\n

17 High-Performance Apps<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The report, issued by \u201cStrategy Middle East\u201d and PricewaterhouseCoopers, 17 applications with high potential that can be implemented across several areas, including mobility, managed landscapes, urban project density, mechanical systems, and construction processes.<\/p>\n

Among the most notable are the five examples listed below:<\/p>\n

1. Sewage: Sewage can simply be treated at the same location where it is generated, thereby helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 90% and decrease the energy consumption associated with pumping water to the treatment facility.<\/p>\n

2. Sustainable Pathways: Building roads and pathways from recycled materials can reduce embodied carbon by more than 90%, in addition to cutting costs by 50% compared to traditional asphalt roads, and their production process will require less energy.<\/p>\n

3. Green Roofs: Also known as \u00abgreen\u00bb roofs, they can help reduce surface temperatures by 30 to 40%, and can also be used to provide the additional benefit of rainwater retention, which is particularly important.<\/p>\n

4. Assembly of prefabricated units: This would reduce embodied carbon emissions by more than 19% over the life cycle of the building.<\/p>\n
