The third edition of the International Mining Conference<\/a><\/strong>which was held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may God protect him - from January 9-11, 2024 at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Center in Riyadh.<\/p>\n

In his closing speech, H.E. Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, thanked the wise leadership for their support and patronage for holding this conference, and their continuous interest and support for the renaissance of the mining sector in the Kingdom, and thanked the participating ministers from various countries of the world, partners and sponsors for their valuable contributions to the conference sessions and events.<\/p>\n

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the number of participants attending the conference reached more than 14,000 participants from investment leaders, heads of major mining companies, experts and technical specialists in this field from 133 countries, in addition to 100 sponsors and exhibitors, while 250 speakers participated in the 70 sessions of the conference, including ministers, ambassadors and heads of delegations of the countries participating in the conference.<\/p>\n

The discussion sessions at the conference included a number of pressing topics in the mining sector, most notably making progress on the sector's future agenda, dealing with the latest developments of the issues that were focused on in the discussions of the second edition of the conference, especially issues related to the mining sector in the greater region extending from Africa to West and Central Asia, attracting investments to the mineral industries in this region, deploying the most advanced digital technologies in the sector and applying the best sustainability standards, in addition to discussing the changes and developments in the mining reality in the world today and its effects on the supply of minerals and energy in the region and the world, in addition to discussing the variables and developments of the mining reality in the world today.<\/p>\n

High untapped mineral potential\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The conference witnessed the announcement of the new estimates of the Kingdom's untapped mineral potential, which increased from 1.3 trillion to 2.5 trillion dollars, an increase of 90%. The conference also witnessed the signing of 75 agreements and memorandums of understanding with a total value exceeding 75 billion riyals in the field of mining and mining industries between a number of government agencies, local and international companies and institutions participating in the conference, including mining exploration, financing, technology, applying sustainability standards and investing in supply chains.<\/p>\n

Showcasing the latest mining technologies\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The statement pointed out that an area was set up to showcase the latest current and future mining technologies, an outdoor exhibition area, and an area dedicated to showcasing investment opportunities in Africa, West and Central Asia, as promising mining regions capable of contributing to filling future demand gaps for minerals, and the Mining Exploration Opportunities Forum, with the participation of major international companies in the field of mining exploration and national investment companies interested in the mining sector.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the third International Ministerial Meeting of Ministers in charge of Mining Affairs, attended by 75 countries and 35 governmental and non-governmental organizations, discussed practical steps to enhance cooperation between governments and international organizations, and agreed to establish coordination and working groups composed of interested governments and organizations to consult within the framework of the International Mining Conference, provide a space to exchange ideas, develop initiatives and action plans, report to participants by mid-2024, and make recommendations to the International Mining Conference in its 2025 edition.<\/p>\n

It is noteworthy that the third edition of the conference was praised by the participants from Their Excellencies ministers and representatives of governments and companies, praising the Kingdom's great capabilities in the mining sector and its potential to excel in this sector to become a center for mineral processing, praising the continuation of the International Mining Conference to be a catalyst for the development of the sector, especially with regard to exploration, faster, in light of the increasing demand for minerals in the world in the future, driven by modern industrial trends, especially in relation to renewable energy needs and other industries that depend on many critical minerals.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
