The 12th Gulf Municipal Work Conference, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh from October 6-8, under the slogan \u201cSustainable Municipal Work: Aspirations and Challenges\u201d, will discuss 6 strategic themes related to Gulf municipal work issues and current challenges in the sector, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and joint efforts, and exchanging experiences and knowledge among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to improve the quality of municipal services provided to citizens and residents and achieve sustainable urban development in the region.<\/p>\n
The first focus is on \u201cplanning andUrban design<\/a> <\/strong>Sustainable as a fundamental pillar in the sustainability of municipal work, where the conference sessions in this aspect address the role of modern technology in developing sustainable urban planning and design processes, the importance of legislation in achieving sustainability for municipal work, in addition to strategies for preserving water resources in cities, and the most prominent successful models and practices in this field will be reviewed.<\/p>\n The second axis deals with \u201cSustainable Municipal Economy\u201d, focusing on the importance of sustainable municipal work in supporting economic growth and its impact on the economy, the available municipal investment opportunities and their role in promoting a sustainable economy, as well as diversifying funding sources for municipal projects, while reviewing successful applied practices in the field of sustainable municipal work and their impact on economic growth.<\/p>\n The conference\u2019s third axis, entitled \u201cManagement and Operation for More Sustainable Cities,\u201d will review the latest methods in waste management and recycling, the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in sustainable municipal work and enhancing the concept of quality of life in cities, in addition to the role of governance and renewable energy in promoting sustainability, while highlighting successful experiences in managing and operating infrastructure and sustainable municipal work.<\/p>\n The conference will explore, in its fourth axis, building partnerships in municipal work, discussing the areas and nature of municipal partnerships that contribute to the sustainability of municipal work in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the role of community participation in achieving this sustainability. Successful models in municipal partnerships and their role in promoting sustainable development will also be discussed.<\/p>\n The conference will also discuss, in its fifth session, the challenges of climate change in Gulf cities, addressing ways to deal with them, assessing current capabilities, and the role of smart technology in reducing natural risks. The conference will present innovative solutions to deal with the climate challenges facing the region.<\/p>\n In the sixth and final session, the meetings will discuss the role of municipal staff in achieving sustainable municipal work, focusing on the importance of developing human capital skills in the municipal sector and the role of educational and training programs necessary to achieve the sustainability of municipal work, in addition to exchanging experiences on best practices in developing municipal staff to achieve sustainability.<\/p>\n The Gulf Municipal Work Conference is witnessing broad participation from many government agencies concerned with municipal work and municipalities in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, city development authorities, universities, research centers and institutions related to municipal work.
