Projects that humanize cities<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, under the initiative of the Quality of Life Program related to urban planning and green cities projects, was able to increase the per capita share of parks and public spaces in some governorates by 6.16 m2 per capita, exceeding the planned target of 4.65 m2 per capita, in addition to increasing the coverage of cities with green spaces and the total number of gardens reaching 8,328 gardens and parks with a total area of 161.5 million m2, while the total number of playgrounds reached 5,515 playgrounds, and more than 24 million trees were planted, and nearly 222.9 million m2 of green spaces were created, in addition, the number of urban centers increased to 257 urban centers, and the number of parking lots increased to 4,449 parking lots, as well as the number of celebration squares increased to 649 festive squares.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBahja\u201d project was also launched in several municipalities to convert unused spaces into active urban areas for the development of gardens and urban interventions in cities and residential areas, in order to improve the quality of life and well-being of the population.<\/p>\n

As witnessed by the initiative to develop facilities and urban planning For housing projects<\/a><\/strong>The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, in cooperation with the program, launched the (Green Neighborhoods) initiative, which aims to plant 1.2 million trees in more than 50 residential projects in various cities of the Kingdom.<\/p>\n

In the same context, a number of initiatives have been implemented in the urban design sector, including the initiative to establish and develop the urban road network; which contributed to increasing the satisfaction of beneficiaries regarding the quality of the roads; as the total completed length of paved roads reached approximately 2,499 kilometers; in addition, more than 146 thousand light poles were installed; furthermore, 7 new bridges were established; thus, the total number of bridges in the Kingdom reached 505 bridges by the end of last year; and one tunnel was built; thus, the total number of tunnels in the Kingdom reached 155 tunnels, while 6 pedestrian bridges were completed; thus, the total number of them reached 303 bridges.<\/p>\n

New digital services\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The digital transformation initiative in the municipal sector has introduced many new digital services to improve the efficiency of municipal operations and enhance the customer experience; among them, the launch of the interactive (Municipal Advisor) service concerned with reviewing the requirements and requirements for issuing commercial licenses, in addition to the launch and deployment of the (Unified Base System) for planning government resources; while the number of new and renewed business licenses during 2023 reached approximately 696,457 licenses, and the proportion of new licenses accounted for 35.7%%, with a growth rate of 50 for the renewed licenses; furthermore, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing achieved a 88.64% percentage in the measurement of government digital transformation.<\/p>\n

In parallel with these efforts, the two platforms (Skeni and Baladi), affiliated with the Ministry, won the Middle East Technology Excellence Award in the categories of \u201dOnline Services \u2013 Real Estate Technology\u201d for the government categories. They also won the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Excellence Award for the \u201cBaladi Platform \u2013 Digital City Platform\u201d project.<\/p>\n

As part of the initiative to improve the customer experience aimed at improving the customer experience in both the municipal and residential sectors, the ministry also won six awards, including a gold award and five awards in the first edition of the Saudi Customer Experience Award. Under the umbrella of the initiative to build and develop municipal buildings and facilities, last year witnessed many achievements, the most prominent of which were the launch of observation and rescue centers on the coast of Aqir, the inauguration of the traffic management and central garage with an area of 6,000 m2, as well as the completion of the construction of the laboratory building in Tabuk with an area of 1,200 m2, and the construction of a platform to measure the performance of the maintenance contractor and connect it to the municipal platform.<\/p>\n

Developing the municipal real estate investment system\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Regarding the initiative to develop the municipal real estate investment system, aimed at encouraging the private sector and facilitating procedures for investors, and enhancing the return on municipal assets and the optimal utilization of resources, many achievements were achieved in 2023. The most notable of these was the establishment of the (Opportunities) Municipal Investment Forum with the participation of 67 entities, which witnessed the announcement of major investment opportunities and the signing of agreements worth over 12 billion riyals, the launch of more than 30 strategic investment services through the Opportunities portal, in addition to the signing of more than 5,700 contracts by various ministries and authorities, and the empowerment of 12 entities have launched and managed their investment and real estate opportunities; the number of government entities registered on the Opportunities platform reached approximately 303 establishments; the number of projects awarded the Gold Certificate last year reached 15 projects with an implementation rate of 100%; licensed collective housing saw an increase of 7,466 units, bringing the capacity of licensed housing to 1,140,321 beds.<\/p>\n

Based on the program\u2019s strategic goal of improving the living conditions of foreign workers, the initiative to regulate the housing sector for foreign workers across the Kingdom has witnessed numerous achievements implemented by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, including: the completion of the mechanisms for the governance of work between the government agencies involved in regulating the sector, the completion of the privatization of the labor housing license service through engineering offices, and within the initiative to develop services dedicated to foreign workers aimed at achieving the highest levels of satisfaction and improving their living conditions; a comprehensive guide to the services provided after its development was issued; with the aim of identifying rights, duties, regulations, and laws. In addition, the system of the Beneficiary Satisfaction has been activated in all government agencies. Moreover, the Beneficiary Voice service has been launched to enable them to share opinions and observations on the quality of services provided immediately. Furthermore, the Beneficiary Care Center was equipped with the feature of visual and audible registration to improve the quality of services and enhance transparency to address challenges in the center.<\/p>\n
