His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khuraif, affirmed the growth in the production capacities of companies Cement<\/a> <\/strong>Saudi Arabia meets the needs of the domestic market and the Kingdom\u2019s development projects, in addition to contributing to the supply of these commodities in global markets; Saudi exports of cement and clinker reached more than 8.48 million metric tons in 2023.<\/p>\n

The Kingdom is the leading cement producer in the Arab world<\/span><\/h4>\n

In a speech delivered by His Excellency during the launch ceremony for the first sustainability report of \u201cAl-Madina Cement,\u201d held in the presence of His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs, Engineer Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudayfer, Al-Khuraif explained that the Kingdom ranks first in the Arab world and tenth globally in terms of production volume Cement<\/a><\/strong>, with a production capacity of more than 80 million metric tons per year, produced by 20 Saudi plants, noting that domestic demand for cement reached approximately 47.3 million metric tons last year, with spending on the construction sector projected to reach 6 trillion riyals by 2030; which in turn points to increasing growth in demand for cement, given the massive development projects currently underway in the Kingdom. His Excellency highlighted the continuous development of the cement industry in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

A Promising Future for the Cement Industry\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

He said, \u201cThe sector Cement <\/a><\/strong>\u201dThe Kingdom has a promising future, thanks to a number of leading companies that are constantly working to adopt the latest manufacturing technologies, which help them improve their production efficiency. In addition, a number of companies have recently been actively working to upgrade and replace some of their production lines to improve quality.\".<\/p>\n

His Excellency referred to strategic recommendations developed by the Ministry for the cement sector, aimed at transforming it into a more sustainable sector. The Ministry is working in collaboration with relevant authorities to implement numerous initiatives and programs that support this transformation, such as the Industrial Sector Competitiveness Program, and the Liquid Fuel Phase-Out Program. The implementation of these initiatives is expected to improve energy efficiency, reduce production costs, and lower carbon emissions in industrial sector companies, including those in the cement sector. The Ministry is also working in collaboration with the National Committee for Cement Companies, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and relevant entities; on an initiative to conduct research studies aimed at reducing carbon emissions in the cement industry, introducing environmentally friendly cement products, and leveraging global best practices in this field.<\/p>\n

Al-Khuraif emphasized that the company\u2019s release of its sustainability report, along with its previous efforts to convert waste into alternative fuel for use in cement production, and today\u2019s signing of an agreement with a leading company in green cement production technologies, represents a significant step toward a more sustainable future for the cement industry, and demonstrates Al-Madina Cement\u2019s commitment to reducing its environmental impact, enhancing energy efficiency, and meeting the growing demand for eco-friendly cement products. He noted that Saudi cement companies are expected to increase their involvement in the development of local communities, and provide specialized training to the Kingdom\u2019s young men and women in the cement industry, as part of well-thought-out plans that will yield positive results in terms of the industry\u2019s relationship with its social environment.<\/p>\n

His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources praised Al Madina Cement Company\u2019s ongoing achievements, saying: \u201cSince its establishment in 2005, Al Madina Cement Company has won numerous international awards for quality, energy efficiency, and responsible business practices, It also ranked first in the Kingdom, according to a SIRI assessment, for the implementation of automation projects under the \u201dFactories of the Future\u201d program, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources with the aim of transforming 4,000 factories to adopt automation and modern manufacturing technologies.\u201d.<\/p>\n

The launch of Al-Madina Cement Company\u2019s first sustainability report represents a significant milestone in the Kingdom\u2019s cement industry, as it aligns with the Kingdom\u2019s sustainable development goals under Vision 2030.
