Building Program<\/strong><\/a> announced that nearly 90 million m2 of community spaces have been registered for Sustainable certification since the program was launched until the end of the third quarter of 2024.<br \/>\nHe explained that the areas of communities during 2024 exceeded 39 million m2, representing 44% of the total areas registered since the launch of the sustainability assessment service, and reflects the increasing growth in the demand of major projects for the sustainability assessment service, and the adoption of a culture of sustainability to build more sustainable residential and commercial urban communities.<br \/>\nRiyadh topped the registered project areas with more than 25 million m2, followed by Medina with more than 8 million m2, and Jeddah with more than 5 million m2.<br \/>\nAs the first Saudi assessment system developed in accordance with international best practices aligned with the Saudi Building Code, the Sustainability Assessment System enables property owners and developers to<br \/>\nIt measures the sustainability of new and existing buildings and communities by following environmental standards to increase energy and water efficiency, improve quality of life through the provision of parks and basic facilities, and provide safe bicycle and pedestrian paths.<br \/>\nThe Sustainability Assessment System (SAS), which is internationally accredited by the World Green Building Council, assesses the sustainability of projects at all stages of development, based on the number of points met from sustainability criteria; residential and commercial buildings and communities are assessed for design and construction or operation and maintenance, and projects are categorized into five levels, starting from green to
