He added that construction, urban development, and real estate development\u2014in their comprehensive sense\u2014are nothing less than a fundamental building block and a key pillar that must be strengthened and supported so that their civilizational role can be integrated with other vital sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Al-Otaibi referred to the resolutions adopted at the General Assembly meeting, during which the Federation\u2019s permanent headquarters in Makkah was approved, membership in the Federation and its councils was opened to specialized institutions and individuals, and an achievement by the Federation was announced: opening new horizons for Arab and international cooperation through the signing of a joint cooperation agreement with the Ivory Coast Chamber of Real Estate Development and the West African Federation, as well as the announcement of preparations to launch the \u201cReal Estate Development Market\u201d as a major Arab-international event, through which work is scheduled to begin soon on organizing an Arab-African Conference on Construction and Real Estate Development in the city of Laayoune in the Kingdom of Morocco, Furthermore, a decision was made to open a regional headquarters for the Union in Laayoune, Kingdom of Morocco, and another regional headquarters in Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Al-Otaibi announced the launch of the \u201cArab Real Estate Development Award,\u201d which will be a biennial award presented by the Federation every three years to honor the elite among real estate developers and innovative and pioneering real estate development projects across a number of categories, including: Construction and Engineering; Development; and Architectural Identity and Innovation.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Raed Ali Al-Jabouri, Director of the Department of Organizations and Federations at the League of Arab States, said that the conference represents an opportunity to promote the real estate sector and Arab real estate development in particular, and the field of sustainable development in general, in his capacity as a member of the Forum of Specialized Arab Federations under the auspices of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. It also represents an occasion to open up avenues for cooperation with relevant Arab institutions and federations, especially since it is being held in conjunction with the Union\u2019s regular General Assembly meeting, which will ensure the continuity and renewed momentum of its work.
