This increase is primarily attributed to the significant rise in housing prices and related services, making this sector the main driver of the index.<\/p>\n<p>According to the authority, prices for housing, water, electricity, and gas rose by 6.8% year-over-year, as a result of an increase in a group of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/amlak.net.sa\/en\/78088\/\">Residential rentals<\/a><\/strong> By 8.1%, driven in turn by a 7.1% increase in residential villa rents. The Authority noted that the housing sector accounts for approximately 25.5% of the consumer basket, giving it the greatest impact on overall inflation.<\/p>\n<p>As for the other sectors, the data showed that the food and beverage sector rose by 1.6%, driven by a 2.8% increase in meat and poultry prices. Miscellaneous goods and services also saw growth of 4%, while transportation prices fell by 0.8% on a year-over-year basis, which helped moderate the overall increase.<\/p>\n<p>On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index recorded only a slight change of 0.1% in May compared to April, indicating relative price stability.
