In a bold step towards a more sustainable and innovative future, Al Khobar Governorate has put itself on the map of global smart cities, not only through technology and infrastructure, but from the heart of nature itself, as the project to digitize and document trees, launched by Al Khobar Municipality in partnership with the Saudi NetZero platform, opens a new page in the relationship between man and the environment, where green spaces turn into knowledge platforms and living data that serve future generations.<\/p>\n

The release of Documentation and digitization of trees in Al Khobar<\/a><\/strong>as part of a plan to transform Al Khobar into the Kingdom's first smart green city. The first phase of the project includes the digitization and documentation of 100,000 trees, a move that will enhance the city's status, which currently ranks 61st globally in the 2025 Smart Cities Index.<\/p>\n

The project embodies Al Khobar's deep commitment to environmental sustainability, as its goals are not limited to preserving the environment, but also to stimulate investments in afforestation, sustainable infrastructure, and environmentally friendly projects. The project also contributes to spreading environmental awareness among residents and promoting the concept of social responsibility, making Al Khobar a global role model for environmental innovation.<\/p>\n

The idea of the project is to install QR code tags on tree trunks, allowing visitors and citizens to access detailed information about each tree, including its type, location, and environmental importance, in both Arabic and English. This data is geo-linked to the location of natural trees, forming a comprehensive database that facilitates green space management and planning.<\/p>\n

The project also opens up new economic horizons by encouraging companies to contribute to afforestation and digitization campaigns, creating job opportunities and enhancing the complementary role between the public and private sectors. Through this initiative, Al Khobar is moving closer to realizing the vision of sustainable cities, where technology and the environment blend in harmony to ensure the quality of life and prosperity of the community.<\/p>\n
