Qatar Airways won the “World’s Best Airline” award at the SkyTrax Awards 2011 and 2012 ceremony based on the votes of passengers from around the world in the latest survey conducted by the organization.
While its network has expanded at an unprecedented annual rate of 30%, it today operates one of the newest fleets of aircraft in the air to more than 125 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, North and South America, and has more than 120 modern aircraft. It has also recently ordered the purchase of 50 new Boeing 777 aircraft in a deal worth $19 billion.
Gulf Air began its journey in 1950 and is fully owned by the Kingdom of Bahrain. Initially, it was a joint ownership between the governments of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and Qatar. These countries withdrew one after another until Gulf Air became the official national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2006. Currently, it serves more than 30 destinations on various continents and countries around the world and has a fleet of 34 aircraft and 59 other leased aircraft ranging from the Embraer 190 to the Airbus A320 in various forms, and finally the Boeing 737.
The fuel prices constitute a major concern and obstacle for the companies ”Gulf Air and Qatar Airways”, due to their high prices compared to other international airports, in addition to the fact that the local carrier ”Saudi Airlines” obtains reduced fuel prices compared to foreign companies that require this feature in order to create a competitive environment that encourages all companies, which is what the Civil Aviation Authority seeks to achieve in its efforts with Aramco.

Reading time: 2 Minutes”Qatar Airways and Gulf Air are launching their operations in the Kingdom through a massive fleet.
