These include, for example, the ability to identify potential customers for a particular product, which involves defining the target market to include age, gender, geographic region, income level, education level, hobbies, family size, the consumer\u2019s standard of living, or preferences, etc. We should also note the differences between investment marketing, consumer marketing, and entertainment marketing in terms of message and target audience.
\n What we see among enthusiastic marketers in the social media space\u2014the chaos and the race to gain the largest number of followers or \u201clikes\u201d without any connection or fundamental marketing element linking those groups to a specific field or niche\u2014is clear evidence of aa far cry from the art of professional marketing.
\n There are still global questions and challenges regarding the assessment of the return on investment (ROI) in social media programs across most business sectors, as these programs are also associated with negative aspects and lack systems and regulations to protect rights. There is no doubt that investing in the technology itself is fraught with risks because it is volatile and requires ongoing research. As for social media, the situation still calls for scientific studies that prove its value to many stakeholders, beyond mere speculation and corporate marketing. For this very reason, social media is not yet taught as an academic subject at the world\u2019s top universities; where it is offered at some universities, it is classified as an elective course, and the students taking it have not yet graduated.
\nThe downside of this technology is that it evolves so rapidly that one platform often overtakes another, and we see many, many of them suddenly shutting down their sites. And those who say we\u2019re in the age of online journalism\u2014what\u2019s left for it after WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Kik? Are we going to say that online journalism has no place? Therefore, a scientific foundation is essential. Anyone wishing to learn some scientific methods in marketing should, for example, advertise on Google and follow the steps\u2014this will lead them to what we\u2019ve mentioned. This doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s the ideal method for marketing, but rather that we should benefit from understanding some of the key elements in marketing.
