The second edition of the Architecture and Design Research Conference (ADRC 2025) kicks off today in Jeddah, under the theme of Documentation in Architecture and design<\/a><\/strong>The conference, which runs until December 6, 2025, aims to explore documentation theories, analyze and discuss their applications, discuss current and future documentation challenges and solutions, review the latest practices and techniques in documenting architectural and design projects, and highlight the impact of cultural and historical context on architectural and design projects.<\/p>\n

The conference, organized by Architecture and Design Authority<\/a><\/strong>A group of local and international experts, academics and practitioners, specialized in various fields of architecture and design, participated in the conference to discuss a number of topics and issues related to documentation, and put forward various opinions and perspectives based on rich experiences and expertise, thus contributing to enhancing dialogue and enriching knowledge.<\/p>\n

The conference seeks to integrate theories and applications through innovative modern methodologies, to create an archive that contains a large number of concepts and practices related to architecture and design, specifically related to documentation, in addition to promoting cooperation between different disciplines to contribute to raising the quality and accuracy of documentation, and benefiting from the diverse experiences and expertise of the participants in the conference.<\/p>\n

The conference will include a number of discussion sessions that aim to discuss documentation strategies, theories and practices in architecture and design, including national strategies for documenting Saudi design and architecture, the urban and urban narrative of the Kingdom, contemporary practices in documenting architecture and design, artificial intelligence and the future of archiving, in addition to contemporary practices in documenting architecture and design.<\/p>\n

The conference will hold specialized workshops presented by a number of academics and specialists, presenting the basics of knowledge in documentation and sharing the most important tools and methodologies that contribute to guiding participants, training them and developing their knowledge and skills, including building digital archives, basics of documentation and archiving, documentation in education, environmental documentation and archiving system, preparing a book (Documentation Practice), and writing a research grant from idea to funding.<\/p>\n

The conference will hold sessions to discuss the scientific papers presented by researchers participating in the conference from different countries of the world, which fall under the five tracks of the conference, including documentation strategies, policies and methodologies, education and the future of documentation, advanced documentation techniques, cultural and physical documentation, archive organization and coordination, and a general track for scientific papers dealing with any other topic related to the documentation of architecture and design.<\/p>\n

The scientific committee of the conference includes a group of academics and specialists in the fields of architecture and design from inside and outside the Kingdom to supervise the research themes and arbitrate the scientific papers participating in the second edition of the conference, ensuring a high level of academic quality and enhancing the status of the conference as a specialized regional platform that contributes to the development of scientific research and professional practices in architecture and design.<\/p>\n
