I clarified Public Authority for Roads<\/a> <\/strong>that Saudi Road Code<\/a> <\/strong>Establishing specific requirements for parking near sidewalks to enhance traffic safety.
\nThese standards are part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life and achieve the highest levels of safety and efficiency in the Kingdom's road network.<\/p>\n

The Roads Authority stated that these requirements include taking into account the classification and function of the road, maintaining the urban appearance of the city, reducing visual distortion, ensuring that parking lots do not affect safety or impede the movement of vehicles and pedestrians, and do not impede the access of emergency and service vehicles to entrances and exits, in addition to providing additional or alternative parking lots if they are insufficient, and adapting parking lots to the nature of the area to meet its needs.<\/p>\n

Saudi Road Code\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The Saudi Road Code<\/a><\/strong> A comprehensive technical reference for all entities responsible for roads in the Kingdom, including ministries, city development authorities, regional secretariats, municipalities of cities and governorates, and others, to enable these entities to access the information needed to plan, design, implement, operate and maintain all types of roads in the Kingdom, taking into account environmental aspects and the requirements of self-driving vehicles, along with guidelines, drawings, procedures and checklists for all road networks in the Kingdom, to achieve the minimum acceptable levels of quality, safety, security, economic efficiency and sustainability.<\/p>\n

The General Authority for Roads is tasked with supervising and regulating the road sector by setting the necessary policies and legislation, including the launch of the Saudi Road Code.<\/p>\n

The code was introduced as a pilot until the end of last year, while its application was activated for all government agencies at the beginning of this year, and for private agencies in the middle of this year, within the framework of achieving the targets of the road sector strategy that focuses on safety, quality and traffic density, and aims to reach the sixth place globally in road quality by 2030.<\/p>\n
