His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, witnessed the signing of an agreement to implement a high-speed electric train project for passenger transportation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar, in a step that reflects the depth of the fraternal and historical relations between the two brotherly countries.
\nThe agreement was signed by HE Minister of Transport and Logistics Eng. Saleh Al Jasser and HE Minister of Transport in Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, as part of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council.
\nThe high-speed rail project between the two countries is a strategic step in the two countries' efforts to enhance cooperation and development integration, consolidate sustainable development and a shared commitment to broader horizons of development and prosperity in the region.
\nThe high-speed train stretches over a distance of 785 kilometers, connecting the two capitals of Riyadh and Doha, passing through major stations that include the cities of Hofuf and Dammam and connecting King Salman International Airport and Hamad International Airport, to form a new artery for rapid and sustainable mobility and improve the regional travel experience, at speeds exceeding 300 kilometers per hour, contributing to reducing travel times to approximately two hours between the two capitals, supporting mobility, enhancing commercial and tourism mobility, supporting economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life.
\nThe high-speed train will serve more than 10 million passengers annually, enabling travelers to discover the landmarks of the Kingdom and Qatar with ease, and the project will contribute to the creation of more than 30,000 direct and indirect jobs.
\nAfter its completion, the project is estimated to achieve an economic impact of about 115 billion riyals to the GDP of the two countries, making it one of the most important strategic projects that support regional development and consolidate the interconnection and integration between the GCC countries through an advanced railway network.
\nThe project will be completed after six years, according to the highest international standards of quality and safety, using the latest railway technologies and smart engineering to ensure safe and smooth operation; achieving environmental sustainability, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing efforts to support the shift towards more efficient and innovative modes of transportation for smart and sustainable mobility in the region.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
